When this ukulele arrived, I was excited to try it out. I own a Concert ukulele, so to play this standard one was a new experience. After a quick tune up, I realized that the A string kept hitting the 3rd fret. It made a twangy noise every time tried to strum a C chord. I figure out that the 3rd fret was not in all the way. When I called Guitar Center to see what my options were, I was put on hold for 30 minutes. Luckily I had work to do, so I put my phone on speaker and worked. The CSR, named Diane, finally came back on and said I had to mail back the ukulele and they'll mail me a new one. I asked if I can just return it to a local Guitar Center, then she tried to put me on hold again to ask someone else. I gave her my piece of mind before she put me on hold again. Told her how unprofessional it was to put me on hold for 30 minutes without checking on me. And that I didn't have additional time for her to ask someone else. I'm sure the ukulele would've worked fine had the 3rd fret been installed correctly, but the Customer Service provided by Guitar Center has left a bad taste in my mouth. They're the reason why I gave this a one-star! I'm going to return this ukulele at a local Guitar Center this week. Hopefully, seeing someone in person will work better for me.

Great Ukelele for the price

By Dave Townsend

from Rochester NY

I purchased this model about 1 year ago and have been very pleased with it. After playing the guitar for 35 years, I wanted to try something new. It has a great sound, is fun and easy to play. It is very well made and for the price is an excellent value. At first it didn't stay in tune for very long, but I think it was mostly due to new strings and over time it improved significantly.

Amazing!

By Tanner Whetsel

from Pulaski, TN

I am 14 years old and I have never played an instrument before. I have always enjoyed the sound of the ukulele. I read reviews trying to find the right one and this is the perfect one for not a bad price. I have read that it gets out of tune easily, but I haven't tuned it that much. I have had it three days and can already play some songs. It produces such a great sound for such a little instrument. I love this Lanikai uke. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a ukulele.

I bought this Ukulele on the reviews of all the others and I'm very glad I did. It's came pretty much in tune and after a day of playing, it pretty much stayed in tune. Very Nice!

Great uke to build the basics on

By John Nefalar

from Oxnard, CA

If you're just starting out and sure you want a soprano/standard sized uke, this one is perfect for the price. It has a bright, punchy tone throughout the fretboard. At first you'll need to keep re-tuning as the strings stretch out, but after a week or so, it holds its tune very well. I probably tune it every 3-4 weeks, even with constant playing. Once you start to progress though, you will notice the little things such buzzing every now and then. But for a starting uke at $70 you can't complain. The next step up soprano/standard sized ukes at GC are at around $200, so if you're serious about playing then I'd suggest to go for those. But if you just want to test the waters before jumping in, then this uke is a great pick.

Outstanding Uke

By Bryan Smith

from Pottsotwn, PA

This was my first ukulele, but its definitely not limited to beginners. I learned four songs in 2 days without ever having picked up a uke before in my life. It sounds amazing and is so cheap compared to other ukes with the same reviews. There is only one flaw and that is that it comes out of tune after each play. I downloaded a tuner on my smartphone and it takes 30 seconds before you play to put it in tune, so its no big deal. Plus I can tell the uke is slowly staying in tune more and more as its played. I do not see myself having to buy another ukulele unless I accidentally damage this one

The look and the price are awesome. Itۡs great for beginners. The overall built of it makes it feel luxurious. Youۡll have to go into one of the guitar center stores and try it yourself.

Awesome product!

By Becky

from Lancaster, PA

I am a beginner uke player, never knew anything at all about playing. I wanted something that was decent quality with a decent price. This was definitely a great pick. Sound quality is really nice (though i don't have a lot to compare it to). I was surprised by how small it was but when I started playing it i barely notice the size at all. Very fun! As far as tuning it really stays intune well. I have to tune it before i play it and sometimes they need adjustment but for the most part it stays pretty well intune. I am so excited about this instrument, i bought it about a month ago and its been really great. Definitely a great instrument!

This ukulele changed my life...

By Evan

from Albuquerque, NM

Thinking about buying this ukulele? BUY THIS UKULELE! A lot of people complain about them going out of tune. They do definitely go out of tune more than a guitar but it gradually gets better and better the more you play it. Someone else somewhere said something about the strings setting in and making it stay in tune? I have no clue what that means but I suppose it's true. If you have fat fingers, you might not want to get a soprano (standard) uke as these things are tiny. It is very hard to play standing up as it has no strap and the pressure of your fingers on the frets moves the whole thing around. Try a concert (alto) uke if you have a case of the sausage fingers. I bring this thing everywhere with me now. It's a fun little songwriting tool and nothing can beat taking it on a hike or a walk and having a little outdoor jam. It's the most fun you'll ever have. I suggest you cash out your home equity and buy several thousand of them.
