This uke is easy to play, looks pretty sexy (I like the dark wood colour), and is a overall great uke for the money. Would definitely recommend. And all ukuleles everywhere are known for going out of tune quickly, just give it a couple of days of playing and tuning, the strings will eventually set. This particular uke set pretty quickly for me, around 4 days I believe.

I was given this as a gift about 10 days ago. I read the reviews and thought this would be the perfect uke to start out with since the reviews were pretty good. Being a guitar player I understand how strings need time to relax and most instruments need a little tweaking or setup to perform at optimum playability but this little uke is terrible at staying in tune. I can't play one song before it's out of wack and this is after stretching the strings and playing for about an hour a day. This may be a fun little toy for kids but if you are serious about learning some uke tunes, stay away from this one. The build seems ok and everything else is nice but if you cant play it, its useless.

Great Ukelele

By Julie Marcusen

from Utah

This is my first Ukelele ever. I have never touched one and I don't know what is good and what isn't. But this ukelele is really good for me! I had to tune the strings a couple times before they stayed in tune, but now they stay and I watched videos on Youtube to learn how to play and only after a couple days I can play a song almost perfectly. It sounds great and is just really good for a first time ukelele. :)

Solid Uke for the price

By John Walters

from Cooper City, Fl.

Bought this uke for my daughter. Have built several instruments, (dulcimer, guitar, violin), was a little surprized to see it made from ply, (the body, the neck is solid)but is good quality ply with beautiful veneer! Has machines, not just pegs. Is an instrument, not a toy. Very good instrument for the price. I took the advice of another reviewer to purchase strings, and am glad I did. Better quality, stay in tune better after being stretched in a while

Kids love it!

By Catherine Tawney

from Harbor City, CA

We bought this for our son for Christmas. He's only 2 1/2, but truly loves his ukulele. His sisters are loving it too. It sounds great and is the perfect size for him to start making music. We are very happy with our purchase!

FIRST UKE!

By Jake Mathews

from Richmond, Texas

Although this was the first ukulele I ever purchased, I could not be more in love with it! it is extremely comfortable to use, lightweight and durable, and the strings that come with it are Aquila, which was a bonus for me. After about a week or two the strings start to set and are much more in tune so you don't have to tune it every 15 minutes or so like I did the first day. Great job Lanikai, you never fail to come through with quality luthiery and great price!

Amazing!

By CMT

from Salt Lake City, Utah

I bought this uke only a week ago and I already love it! The strings started staying in tune after not even 24 hours! I was tempted to but the lu 21 because of the rosewood but I am glad i went this way! I am a guitar player and picked this up as a starter uke and it holds up great, especially when i incorporate slapping into the songs as it gives such a mellow sound!

I absolutely love this! Tuning isn't much of an issue for me. I've had this since May of 2010 and it's still going strong!~
