Lanikai is proud to introduce their Exotic ukuleles. Constructed with solid zebrawood, the SZW-TCA tenor ukulele produce a fresh tone unique to the tonewoods' distinct resonant capabilities. Unadorned by synthetic enhancements, this series captures the pure essence and beauty of the natural world.

The Lanikai Exotic Tenor Ukulele features a solid top, back, and sides, slotted headstock, Grover gold-plated tuning machines, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, maple and rosewood skunk stripe and an ovangkol neck. A custom wide-bone nut was used to increase the string spacing, making the SZW-TCA tenor ukulele more comfortable for guitarists who are expanding their sonic palette with the ukulele.

This cutaway acoustic-electric ukulele features the Fishman Sonicore ukulele preamp and Sonitone pickup. With volume and tone controls mounted in the soundhole. this tenor ukulele is truly a performance-driven instrument. Strung with Aquila Nylgut strings.

  • An excellent instrument

    This solid wood instrument has perfect intonation and a sweet tone. It is extraordinarily attractive and well made. The finish is very attractive, I see no tool marks, but the texture of the wood is preserved. It appears to be a simple oil finish without the use of filler, so the grain is still very visible. This is not just matte; it's raw. I love it this way, and zebrawood is especially suited to this type of finish. There are sections of the back that are visible inside the sound hole that feature wood burl and natural "flaws" that are not really flaws at all but extraordinarily beautiful. However, there are other instruments I would recommend over this one. The Kala solid acacia tenor is equally priced and has a noticeably better tone. The Kala is louder, has more sustain, and exhibits richer mid and low range. This Lanikai zebrawood will not disappoint, but for the money I would recommend the Kala Acacia.

    I did like the sound from this uk, but it had little volume. I was very disappointed with the finish on the wood. There were tool marks around the body where the neck attaches. The sanding of the wood was poorly done and was not smooth in areas of the neck. The edges of the body were so square they were sharp. I did return this ukulele.
