Lanikai ukuleles have great playability, sound, and aesthetics at a price that will surprise you. THe LU-11 is a standard (soprano) size uke with top, back, sides, and fretboard constructed with nato, a wood similar to mahogany. 12 frets with geared machine heads for easy tuning. Binding on the top.
This is my first ukulele, and I love it. The strings it came with were good, and it sounded great. I wanted to get the LU-21, but I went for this one because of the price, and I'm definitely glad I did. I love the way it looks today, the dark wood looks pretty cool. I'd never picked up a ukulele before buying it, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's not too hard to play, if you're thinking you need a concert size ukulele because your hands are too big, you don't! This is the perfect size. If you're curious about ukulele's and want to try them out like me, this is a good place to start. If you're thinking you just want to try them, try this one, not some prepackaged ukulele starter kit. These are much, much, much nicer than those! 5 Stars.
I bought this uke only a week ago and I already love it! The strings started staying in tune after not even 24 hours! I was tempted to but the lu 21 because of the rosewood but I am glad i went this way! I am a guitar player and picked this up as a starter uke and it holds up great, especially when i incorporate slapping into the songs as it gives such a mellow sound!
Although this was the first ukulele I ever purchased, I could not be more in love with it! it is extremely comfortable to use, lightweight and durable, and the strings that come with it are Aquila, which was a bonus for me. After about a week or two the strings start to set and are much more in tune so you don't have to tune it every 15 minutes or so like I did the first day. Great job Lanikai, you never fail to come through with quality luthiery and great price!
