This guitar had all the features I was looking for in my price range but there wasn't much customer feedback when I made my purchase so I hope others can benefit from this. Guitar looks fantastic - the sunburst with brushed chrome hardware and overall design are just beautiful. Neck - very comfortable, one of the best I've ever played. It has a nicely aged and broken in feel to it. The maple fingerboard had some birdseye in it which made it look more attractive to me. Tuners - laguna locking tuners which work as they should. Bridge - Wilkinson tremolo which feels really smooth. However this isn't a guitar where you can do divebombing vibrato stuff and still be in tune, even with locking tuners but for me it's an improvement over stock Fender type systems. Pickups - not bad. The single coils sound like single coils although a little muddy. Bridge humbucker sounds generic but is very good. Some may want to swap out for some hotter pickups but I find them good enough for my taste. Bottom Line - glad I bought this guitar. I felt I got a bargain for all the features and would recommend buying it. Have a professional set up though. The Wilkinson seems to work and sound better with .010 gauge strings vs. the .009s it came with. Great guitar for the warm jazz sounds to the shreddy metal sounds I like. Looks great and once properly set-up, it's very comfortable to play.

I returned this immediately. Will not stay in tune because of the floating bridge. I purchased this guitar because of the good looking hardware, but the trade off is not worth it. It would go out of tune immediately after tuning without even playing it. Any of the other laguna models would be a better choice.

Laguna guitars are great....

By

from Lebanon, Ohio

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

I just recently picked up a used Laguna LE422 for $189.99. The stor I bought it from marked it down from 199.99 for me which wasn't to bad. The guitar itself has a REALLy lite action, Incredible sustain, locking tuners, and a spotless finish. I got to thinking what other models they made and went to Guitar Center. I looked at the LE300. Again really low, light, action. Hot Alnico PUPS, beautiful finish, and looks to kill. I was taken back by both of the guitars because of the weight compared to similarly priced models. I was told a long time ago that the weight tells the quality in a guitar. There is some truth to this. Guitars will infact be heavier if they have tighter grain to the wood which generally equates to a richer sound. The downside is that they are slightly on the heavy side like my Les Paul. Honetsly though I think these guitars are as good, actually better quality than allot of the guitars in the $300-400 price range. The volume pot was very well leveled and the tone pot works/has a better range than my Epiphone Les Paul. The tone pot also pops out whcih is a common feature on some newer Epiphone's which allows you to access a whole different gambit of sounds. Very fine guitars. Yes I would recommend as you get allot of guitar for a very good price. Will be picking another one up very soon.

Best Budget Guitar

By

from Ft. Myers, FL

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

Fantastic Instrument ~ great sustain and very open "breathy" clean tones. The Alnico Pickups are a perfect match for the guitar and sound great ~ no need to upgrade to Duncans or Dimarzios. The Wilkerson Tremolo & Sperzel Locking Tuners work great with the Graphite Nut to keep the guitar in tune. I did remove the strings from the string trees and with the straight pull they glide through the nut smoothly. I only use the Trem for vibrato and not for heavy pitch bends. The Ash Body coupled with the Maple on Maple Neck is a very nice sounding combination with great sustain and warmth. All in all it smokes the $1,000+ Warmoth Custom build it replaced, and I really liked that guitar a lot.

Awesome

By

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

This LE300 is a perfect upgrade from a squier bullet or similar lower cost guitar. The hardware is top notch. The tuners stay in tune and turn smooth. The body seems to be one solid piece. The neck has satin finish and feels very smooth. The fret ends are perfect, no need to file them. I also like the flatter neck, I find it easier to play on. The volume and tone knobs and pickup switch are great. The strings the guitar came with are usable. One thing must be done before playing the guitar and that is to raise the bridge off the body of the guitar because it rest on it and gives aweful sound. All you do is remove the back cover and unscrew two screws holding the claw. The bridge should be parallel with the body. Then the guitar will play nicely. The guitar also comes with one extra spring, and four different sized allen wrenches and also the tremolo bar that drops into the metal socket on the guitar and is locked in with a set screw. The guitar also has good strap buttons that should hold the shoulder strap in. No manual comes with the guitar but one can be found on laguna website. I only use the clean channel and I think my fender starcaster's pickups are little bit better sounding but it's very close. From now on, this laguna is going to be played while my starcaster rest in the corner. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this guitar so far and it looks well build to last a long time.

holy heck im in love!!!

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

ok first of let me say im an experienced guitarist thats in a large band that plays around ky,ohio,tn and other place's and has been playing for a while now. let me tell you this guitar is amazing i picked one up in guitar center not expecting much at all and was amazed at the play ability first off of this guitar, secondly is the actual tone of it its sweet and punch and even addicting. this thing does every thing from cleans to shred to good old metal. personly i like it for shred and 80's metal but u could also play from jazz to hardcore on it, also the one i played had almost rusted strings on it and still played amazing and had sustain for days!!! well let me say this guitar is amazing and worth the money 100% dont listen to the bad review's personly i just think they picked the guitar up and did not set it uo which is a need for any guitar good or bad and thats where the "tuning" problem arose from :P it just show's lack of experience really. but any ways this guitar is for the beginner to advanced player looking for a back up guitar or a main guitar really its great go play on and i guarantee you'll love it.

Beautiful tone for bargain price

By

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

Let me say first off, I have the LE322, which is the previous model to this one - exactly the same, but with self-locking tuners instead of regular locking tuners. The head also has a little "bottle-opener" notch in the head that was reshaped. The tone of this guitar is fantastic straight out of the box. Running it through the same amp, I compared it to my friend's $500+ Stratocaster and found the Laguna to have a more lush tone, at least in my opinion. The beautifully crafted swamp ash body (a very resonant, high quality wood) carries a very full tone. If you are someone looking for a beautiful clean sound, this guitar will deliver. I play mostly progressive, alt. rock and post-rock, so clean sound is very important. I'm not good at guitar yet, but I play other instruments, so I know a lot about tonal quality and such. From what I can tell, the pickups are great, and buying new ones isn't necessary. Nicer ones may improve sound a little bit. The one thing I recommend though is this - buy new strings immediately. The ones that come with the guitar are no that great. Keep in mind that you will probably need a new tremolo spring if you get strings with any higher gauge - mine wouldn't stay in tune above drop C until I put a new spring in. They only cost a few bucks on Amazon. With good new strings, the fretboard feels about as good as a PRS. The build quality is good. It seems very solid; though a few parts feel somewhat cheap, they are solid and won't break near as I can tell. All in all, the LE300 (or LE322) is a great guitar for a very low price. Just about all it needs is a string upgrade, and you will be putting out a gorgeous tone. I 100% recommend thus guitar to any beginner or intermediate player, and even as a second axe for an experienced guitarist.

Must play it to believe it

By

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

I received this guitar from my wife for our anniversary as a replacement for a project guitar that was stolen. This was the 4th guitar I tried out, and it just felt right from the moment it was in my hands. To clear up the description it's 22 frets with a Louisiana Swamp Ash body. The guitar I was looking for needed to be a tone chameleon, and this more than fits that quality. Extremely helpful is the coil tap on the humbucker so the "notch" settings become very Fender-like in sound. I haven't tried metal on this guitar, but for the Jazz to Rock style, you can get very usable tones from it. It's light-weight and comfortable, and the vibrato bar (as previously stated) is just that- for vibrato. Fits my needs so well, I'm looking at getting another very soon.

Awesome!

By

from Sweden

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

Bought this in dallas somewhere on vacation. Havn't had one single problem with it, it's just amazing. I've read some reviews of people complaining that it doesn't stay in tune. They just havn't read the manuals. Since Laguna has a built in thingy for making the guitar stay in tune (if not set up properly, which btw is really, really easy, i figured it out in 2 minutes when i got it, it will get really easy out of tune)and let me put it this way: I transported it from dallas in spring, to sweden in spring (we had snow and minus degrees celcius) without touching it, and when i opened in home here, it was still so good in tune that i did not have to tune it. All thanx to the thingy laguna built in. Soundwise, neckwise and so on, it's all awesome! (Considering as I went from a really bad guitar, played it for 6 years, to this guitar...) So don't downrate it! :P

GREAT GUITAR

By

from Fulton, MS

Comments about Laguna LE300 Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. Not many out there that has the same good looks as this one, Vintage burst/rosewood fretboard. Some say the downside is no pick guard but it would only hide the beauty. Don't let the stock pups fool you they are great for just about any tone you like. I play through the VOX VT 50 and they scream.
