finish with a bang: ]

By stephanie dicamillo

from mannsfield pa

this guitar sounds good when you plug it in. the finish is cool to. i use a line 6 amp thats great with this laguna. it keeps in tune for the most part. if you travel with it it'll get all wacky because of the change in the tempature but this happens with all guitars its awsome and it looks cool to.

Simply Perfect

By Devin Allard

from Orono, ME

I just bought this guitar for my birthday a week ago. I've only been playing guitar about a year but I know quality when I see it. I more or less stumbled upon this guitar because it was just hanging there on the wall. I picked it up and was astounded with the quality. The finish was perfect, the neck was slick and the sound was phenomenal. After about an hour on this guitar I put it back and picked up one of those $1000 guitars I could never afford and I couldn't believe it. I liked the Laguna way more. I was sold. I bought it with a Line 6 30 watt amp and the combo screams! I let my friend (a guitarist of 6 years) play it and he was speechless. The only downfall I found was the low E string buzzes a little when I pluck it with my thumb...will more than likely go away with time or an adjustment. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone.

Shred Machine!!!!!!

By Zach

from Merced, CA

I recently went to Guitar Center to pick out a metal guitar (needed something more playable and heavier sounding than my epi SG) so I decided to give this one a try. Immediately I was able to play faster than ever due to the jumbo frets. I play through a Line 6 Spider 111 75w and it sounds amazing. Only things I did when I got it home were change the strings (too light for me) and raise the bridge pickup to get more gain. All in all this guitar is ridiculously awesome for the price and I couldn't ask for more but, beware, this guitar is pure metal/hard rock muscle. No light stuff. Good As I Lay Dying shred sound.

Pics of LE200Q are mis-leading

By Josh

from Harrisburg, PA

This not a review, just a warning to anyone who might think about buying the LE200Q without playing/seeing it in-person first (I'm sure most people wouldn't do that, but you never know). The pics online do not show the real finish of the guitar. They make the finish stand out a lot more than it actually does and the pattern is not the same as the actual guitar (the actual finish does not have the "skeleton finger-like" pattern). Laguna should really put up new pictures. The bottom line is go check it out in the store before you buy it. The actual finish is still stunning, but not how the pictures make it look. Still an awesome guitar!

Awesome, versatile, sexy axe =)

By daffy_duck_nj

from Jersey City, New Jersey

I got this as a Christmas present. I was originally looking for a different guitar, either a Strat or a Telecaster. But... I then had the idea of looking for a six string partner to my Ibanez RG7321 7 string, which itself is a fine piece of guitar for the money. I saw this guitar in one of the stands. I was awed at how well the finish was done, the back offset waist cut, and the carved top. True, the maple top may be a veneer, but so what? The overall build quality is easily worth several hundred dollars more. The other thing I like is the neck joint. It looks and feels eerily similar to Ibanez's All Access Neck Joint design. Really, if you look at this thing, it's got a PRS-like neck and pickups, the five way selector switch and neck joint from Ibanez, and then the ESP Horizon like top and bridge configuration. So, to me, several guitars in one. I plugged this guitar into one of those Raven amps. Not my favorite amp, but it didn't matter. I was able to pull out some Jazz tones, and a little bit of Strat stuff. The only thing that disappoints me is the Strat tones (neck pickup, and an "in between" tone similar to a middle and bridge pickup together) aren't free of hum. On my RG7321, with its five way switch, the Strat tones are cleaner... might have to check the electronics sometime. Not a huge deal, but worth noting. Even metal tones can cut like a knife on this axe. After I took this home with a Road Runner case, and after a few more days of breaking this guitar in, I changed the .009 strings to a set of D'Addario EXL110+ strings. It's not much heavier than the EXL110's, but it was enough to improve on the tone of the guitar. I can drop the strings to C standard (C, F, Bb, Eb, G, C, low to high), and it holds relatively well there now. Cool. But I still play mostly in standard, though, with the occasional drop D tune (King's X, Lamb Of God, etc.). With the heavier strings, this guitar is also suitable for slide playing. I can see other players changing the bridge pickup to something more high output, but it's perfect to me just the way it is. It's a refreshing break from my Ibanez axes (the 7321 and an older RG560). As my dad told me after playing the guitar for a few hours (with the new strings), there should be more of these guitars being sold and played.

This Guitar Sounds Very Sweet and Clean

By craig lacour

from owasso oklahoma

I had been reading about these guitars for a while and tried one out at GC and was very impressed. I compared it to some Ibanez guitars and this one edged them out. I really wanted an Ibanez. there was one I had my I on but the next day I got there at Guitar Center it was Gone so I tried out a couple of guitars and this one won the sound is very clean the neck felt very balanced and string height was perfect. the five way switch got me I never heard one set up like it the middle tone was very different is was not a strat sound but neither was a les paul sound. that impressed me

Fantastic deal

By Scot

from Indianapolis, IN

I went to Guitar Center looking for a 24 fret fixed bridge quitar to let me pull my Jackson from gig duty. After playing what seemed like every possible guitar in the building, I'd settled on an ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 (the amber sunburst with the Seymour Duncan pickups) as the best playing and sounding piece available. Then I talked with a sales associate and told him what I was looking for, and he said "Wait just a second, I have something in the back that just may surprise you." He came back a newly arrived LE200Q. I plugged it in and gave it a run through. Very nice neck, well intonated with no buzzes anywhere. The rounded neck/ body joint gives it a bit of a nech-thru feel. The body is very light with a small scallop on the back for comfort. Tone-wise, not quite up to the Duncans in the ESP, but a bit better than the Schecter C-1+ I'd tried a little earlier. I told the sales guy it was a nice piece, not quite up to the ESP, but very nice. The he told me what it cost. At first I thought he was joking. 1/2 the price of the Schecter, and 1/3 of the ESP!?! Wow. I'd still like that ESP, but the Laguna is what I took home, and have been gigging with since, changing nothing but the strings. It's a fantastic guitar at a price you can afford to take to the craziest gigs one could imagine. Barring an endorsement deal, I may never play anything else live again!
