it's ok

By Chuck Hughes

from spokane, WA

This bass i bought about a year ago as a last minute replacement for my Squire Deluxe IV (faulty wiring). and it preformed well, at home. not that great for a gig. it's fun the mess around with, but you don't get the amazing performance that and ESP will give you. though i will give it durability, i've dropped it a great many times and it still works.

Good Starter Bass

By Jacob

from Pearland Texas

I've had this bass for almost a year now and its held out pretty well. Tuners are great. they hold REALLY well. 2 complaints i have are really outstanding. 1st is that the pickups could be better, they aren't that loud and they screw them in wayyy too high. 2nd is with the neck, it could have a smoother finish and a bit better action, but hey what do you expect from a 200 dollar bass right. great knock around guitar but i would suggest a shecter as a 1st bass.

A True Beauty

By Jeff

from Palmdale, CA

This bass plays wonderfully for the price, it has awesome features, more than that of the Ibanez GSR200. A few things it has over the GSR200 is: treble boost/cut, 24 frets, pickup blend, etc. Don't let the price fool you, it will play great, I just had to tighten the tuners a little bit, but the only real problem I have is the buzzing, if you play fast, I don't know what's causing it, it's not overly buzzing, it could be just me not pressing down hard enough on the fretboard, maybe the neck just needs a little more relief. It can play jazz and rock both equally well, as well as slap & pop. I'm just a beginner, only had it for a week and a half so far, but I am satisfied. The look of it is just beautiful, the transparent red is much darker than it is shown on the internet. Plus, the bass has a sleek design, as well, it's a powerful and sexy axe. I play this with a Peavey Max 158 bass amp, which I will also be doing a review on. One thing I wish is that this bass would be able to play without a battery, but that's what you get for buying an active bass, but it's not a bad thing though, it's just that if you want that control, you won't get it. The 4 controls on the bass are of course, volume, pickup blend, bass boost/cut, and treble boost/cut. The boosts are up to 12db. It's an awesome bass for such a great price. The bottom line is you need to get this bass if you're a beginner, or are just looking for an extra bass.

Not that great.

By Doug

from Denver

I was looking for a bass and was thinking Ibanez GSR 200 or an Ephiphone. The Laguana looks great and is 2 full octaves but the action runs high to similiarly priced basses. Also on mine the A string on the 12th frett buzzed horribly. I would recommend this to someone who wants an awsome looking bass but doesnt care about performace. Otherwise get the GSR200.

$200 and a lotta bass

By Dazed 'n' Not Confused

from Dayton, OH

Played this at my local GC. Was really looking forward to it and was not dissappointed. I was able to get many of the rock tones I needed and the deep, rich, full tones I look for in my basses. The full 2 octave fretboard is nice as well, a nice alternative to similarly priced basses. The controls are a bit confusing because they are not marked. Just play around with them and you get a good idea of what they all do. Played it through an Acoustic 300W combo. Again this bass sounded awesome and has looks that can kill, I saw the beautiful trans red from across the store. I can say that if I were looking for an active bass I'd be driving home with this in the back. I'm just more of a passive bass guy I guess.
