  • Fantastic deal

As reviewed by Scot on 10/3/2009

I went to Guitar Center looking for a 24 fret fixed bridge quitar to let me pull my Jackson from gig duty. After playing what seemed like every possible guitar in the building, I'd settled on an ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 (the amber sunburst with the Seymour Duncan pickups) as the best playing and sounding piece available. Then I talked with a sales associate and told him what I was looking for, and he said "Wait just a second, I have something in the back that just may surprise you." He came back a newly arrived LE200Q. I plugged it in and gave it a run through. Very nice neck, well intonated with no buzzes anywhere. The rounded neck/ body joint gives it a bit of a nech-thru feel. The body is very light with a small scallop on the back for comfort. Tone-wise, not quite up to the Duncans in the ESP, but a bit better than the Schecter C-1+ I'd tried a little earlier. I told the sales guy it was a nice piece, not quite up to the ESP, but very nice. The he told me what it cost. At first I thought he was joking. 1/2 the price of the Schecter, and 1/3 of the ESP!?! Wow. I'd still like that ESP, but the Laguna is what I took home, and have been gigging with since, changing nothing but the strings. It's a fantastic guitar at a price you can afford to take to the craziest gigs one could imagine. Barring an endorsement deal, I may never play anything else live again!

  • Best guitar I played at this price

As reviewed by Chris on 7/17/2010

I went in to guitar center determined to get an Ibanez. I already had an RG120, but there was alot of room for improvement. So I'm looking at an RG3ex1 and I was about to buy it but needed a second opinion. So I asked the guy if he thought that the Ibanez was the best at this price point, to which he said "well its one of the best you can get, but have you ever heard of Laguna?" I had never heard of Laguna before then. So he took me to the back wall and pulled down one in the grey finish and told me a bit about it. I was a bit skeptical, but when I played it, I was blown away. This guitar is amazing. The Rg3 Couldn't really compare in my opinion. The neck feels really nice around your hands, and the five way switch produces some really nice tones, all of which are a bit different than the last. the finish is spectacular. The pickups are really nice and make for some badass metal tones. I ended up buying it because I was so blown away. I know guitars are personal preference, but if you are looking for a guitar in this price range, or even something twice as expensive, please take a look at this guitar. I'm sure you'll love it just as much as I did.

  • This Guitar Sounds Very Sweet and Clean

As reviewed by craig lacour on 10/4/2009

I had been reading about these guitars for a while and tried one out at GC and was very impressed. I compared it to some Ibanez guitars and this one edged them out. I really wanted an Ibanez. there was one I had my I on but the next day I got there at Guitar Center it was Gone so I tried out a couple of guitars and this one won the sound is very clean the neck felt very balanced and string height was perfect. the five way switch got me I never heard one set up like it the middle tone was very different is was not a strat sound but neither was a les paul sound. that impressed me
