  • Unbeatable instrument

As reviewed by tmfcovers on 9/6/2010

I bought my LE200 about 8 months ago, and in those 8 months, I've really put it to the test. I wanted some variation from my Strat, so I took a look into some Laguna instruments, as I'm extraordinarily pleased with my LG4CE-TR acoustic, and Laguna has quite a few inexpensive, yet truly playable electrics in their line. I first played an LE122, and was pleased by it, but I wanted to be a little more sure I was getting an excellent instrument, so I tracked down my LE200. I had to drive quite a way to get it, but it was truly worth it. I can't tell the difference between this guitar's sound and some of the professional recorded guitar sounds I hear on CDs. Plugged into my cheap little solid-state amp, it sounds great, but plugged into a real tube amp, like a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, it'll BLOW YOUR MIND. It's a very huge-sounding guitar, especially with a nice amp. The only, and I mean ONLY, functional complaint I have is that it can't hold intonation very well. I just grip the neck wrong and it's out of tune. That's a little bit of a problem, which is why I'm only rating it 5 stars and not 6. Quite honestly, you won't find a better deal on the market. I've spent years looking around, and I'm absolutely certain that you want this guitar.

  • Suprized on quality of sound

As reviewed by Alex Lopez on 12/21/2010

Family wanted to get my son back into playing guitar. He's very good but needs his own instrument. I was handed a list of potential guitars from his wish list. I tried those but found them disappointing. So as I'm reviewing the current stock and came upon the Laguna LE200BKS which was in the price range. From the start, you could tell the feel of the neck was "night and day" between the other models. The lightweight feel of the body was much lighter than my 83 Ibanez Artist and Gibson 335. I enjoyed playing it through a couple of standard amps and was impressed by the quality of sound. I tried it with full distortion and had the "growl" of a guitar with much more denser woods. The one portion I would change in this model is the color choices to include at least 2 other choices. The finish is a non-shiny appearance so a bright color would not work. Maybe a blue or white version might work. The clean sound was also very good. I would recommend this guitar over any other models in this price range. Went to the website and and read the philosophy of the company. I'm going to "borrow" the guitar for an upcoming gig and give it the full treatment with my setup and see its full capability.

  • Excellent!

As reviewed by Jonas Wasilco on 8/23/2011

First I'd like to say I have played many guitars. I have many guitars. This is my favorite guitar, I played it at GC and fell in love. I have a Schecter Diamond series and a Gibson Les Paul Studio...Those guitars are gathering dust. This guitar can do it all. Clean, distorted, soloing, rhythm....it sounds great any way you slice it. Action is great too, very easy to play. The price is epic too, you just can't go wrong with this thing! I have had it about a year now, and still looks and plays the same.....So...Just buy it.
