This addition to the Laguna acoustic guitar line, the LD1 Little Brat, is a small 3/4-sized acoustic guitar with big features and sound. This LD series guitar has a solid spruce top with X-bracing for full tone, a real dovetailed neck joint just like the big boys and beautiful abalone rosette and headstock inlay. The Laguna LD1 is the perfect acoustic guitar for pint-sized beginners, children or anyone who wants a small acoustic musical instrument to travel with.

LAGUNA GUITARS LAUNCHES "ONE GUITAR, ONE TREE" REFORESTATION INITIATIVE

Laguna Guitars, reflecting the passionate convictions of musicians, celebrates Earth Day by launching their new "One Guitar, One Tree" reforestation initiative. This plan involves planting one tree for every Laguna guitar made. In addition, Laguna continues to deepen its other practical efforts to reduce waste, recycle and conserve the planet's resources.

For decades, musicians have proudly been socially aware and urged others to take more action, advocacy and awareness in environmental matters. As musicians themselves, those at Laguna have always passionately supported that position, knowing that trees are an economical, long-term solution to many tough environmental problems, including air and water pollution, climate change, wildlife protection, habitat restoration and more. In partnership with AmericanForests.org and their Global ReLeaf campaign, Laguna proudly plants a tree for each Laguna guitar made.

In addition, Laguna's shipping cartons are designed to provide maximum protection with a minimum of material. Their boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard that is also 100% recyclable, which they naturally encourage wherever possible. Also, in the interests of conservation, they have decided not to print glossy, heavyweight catalogs as millions from various companies end up in landfills every year. Instead, Laguna provides extensive information online at their website (www.playlaguna.com) and a catalog will soon be available as downloadable PDFs, allowing users to print only those pages they want.

As with the design and manufacture of their guitars, Laguna welcomes an open dialogue with musicians and encourages them to share their thoughts and ideas on environmental matters including Laguna's "One Guitar, One Tree" initiative and other earth-friendly plans. All such feedback can be directed to environment@playlaguna.com. Please visit PlayLaguna.com or AmericanForests.org for more information on the "One Guitar, One Tree" initiative and Global ReLeaf campaign.

  • Great Solid 3/4 Guitar - Can't beat the price

As reviewed by GuitarBuyer on 1/24/2011

Bought this for my 7 yr old beginner. I wanted a solid quality guitar... not a toy one. One that he would be proud to have even as he got older. It looks and sounds great! I'm inclined to play on it too. Doesn't come with gig bag or neck strap button... but I'll forgo them for a great quality guitar at this price. Would definitely buy again and recommend.

  • Very good value for the $ but be picky when choosing your unit

As reviewed by Krill on 7/26/2011

Saw this guitar online, bought it at my local Guitar Center. Needed a "real" guitar for an 8 year old girl. This guitar is everything it promises, but it pays to inspect the instrument in person. We tried many other guitars including Baby Taylors and Mini Martins and a bunch of other plywood-topped units at GC. I felt this guitar offered a lot of bang for the buck. However, the display unit's bridge was either not glued down properly, or was pulling up on the corners, as a piece of thin paper could be slid under each corner about 3/4 to 1 inch. I requested to see any backstock and they had one unit in a box. The boxed unit's bridge was fine, but the fret end were very sharp and were in bad need of rounding. On the plus side, the boxed unit was noticeably louder and clearer in tone, perhaps due to fresh strings. On the downside the soundboard was not as attractive as the defective display unit whose tightly grained soundboard appeared to be very good quality. I bought the boxed unit and brought it home and spent a half hour rounding the fret ends. This requires specialized fret files, so again, while this is not a problem for myself, maybe you have no experience with fretwork and would need to resort to the added expense of a guitar technician to smooth out this instrument's rough spots. In which case you might have been better off buying the more expensive Baby Taylor or whatever. My daughter likes the look of the Laguna Little Brat much better than the Baby Taylor, in part due to the Laguna's abalone inlay. I like it because it is resonant and musical, unlike so many plywood boxes being passed-off as beginner's instruments (and the added benefit is that if she ever decides to quit lessons I'll have a nice little travel guitar to use!)

  • Fun to play

As reviewed by Fangenator on 7/24/2010

I was at the store and went between this and the small Martin and Taylor guitars. It seemed like you really had to strum hard to get the Martin to sound good (granted the strings looked a little crusty). I really couldn't justify the price of the Taylor. This Laguna seems to combine the neck joint of the Martin with the bigger body of the Taylor, and is pretty easy to play. The one problem I had with this guitar was getting the bridge pins to stay in while changing strings.
