Fodera's Little Brother

This bass surprised me a LOT. The immediate thing that came to mind when I plugged it in and began playing was the sound of a Fodera or a Michael Tobias bass. And this thing is hardly close to them in terms of pricing, but dang, it sounds awesome. Tonal variety is very very widespread, and the neck is almost like playing a guitar neck. Thin as a jazz bass and only as wide as a 6 string guitar. Fantastic! I'd like to see a model with neck-thru body, but hey, so far, this thing impresses greatly! Oh and it is stunningly beautiful!

Great looking and Sounding Bass

I was shocked when I first palyed this bass. The first thing you notice is the light-weight of this beautiful looking instrument. The neck is smooth and the sound is awesome. I play mostly Jazz music and it gives me the sound I am looking for. The pickups on this bass are big (simular to those on the Musicman Bass) and the body is beautiful. Great for the price.

Great Bass

I wanted a bass that would sound good, look good and feel comfortable. this bass had all of those features. This is also a very good deal money wise for such a great instrument.

Big Bang for the buck

I waited till after I gigged with this bass before writing a review because so many times I have loved a bass in my studio only to find it does not do what I need on stage. This bass is different. Sounds most like a Musicman Stingray HH. It plays like a dream as long as it's set up properly and let's face it, she's beautiful. The neck is very thin which is great for my small man-hands but I wonder how much better this bass would sound with a little more meat in the neck. I had to make an almost full turn adjustment on the truss rod to get the action to a playable level but once I did, the bass just sings to me. it's so much cooler when you love the sound coming out of your amp. You play better. There is no doubt. The bad: I had to return the 1st one I bought. The neck was not mounted flush to the body and I could literally slide a folded business card all the way up to the bolt screws. But even if I had to keep it, I'd have fixed it on my own since the bass is just so sweet for the price. keep bumpin

This Bass is the REAL Deal!

Heard about it, read about, gave it some thought, but didn't act on it because I didn't recognize the Laguna name brand. Decided to trade in my Traben Neo for something that felt more "comfortable" and went into Guitar Center during a Midnight Madness sale. And what do I see - but this very same Laguna Bass I had "heard" about. Picked it up - and couldn't put it down!! It was everything that every previous review described! Had to be one of the easiest sales they guy had all night! Beautiful in appearance (LOVE the shark fin head), versatile in sound, and has the neck speed of a lead guitar. Of the 7 brands of basses I own (Conklin, Yamaha, Ibanez, Fender Squire), this one clearly stands out on its own! This instrument is the REAL deal!!!
