Overview

The Ultra Slim Acoustic Sensor features an extremely low profile (.275" tall) for all resonator applications. Additional features include a high-quality cable with a Switchcraft brand 1/4" female jack. The jack also allows the player to have the USA Sensor permanently installed.

Featuring Duo-coil design, the Lace Ultra Slim allows resonator players to enjoy more balanced and quiet operation without the interference caused by higher profile guitar pickups. A non-marring adhesive tape keeps the USA sensor in place.

The USA Sensor will fit most resonator guitars on the market today.

Lace includes a 3" mini data CD that includes all its latest wiring diagrams in color along with Lace's most current pickup and guitar catalogs.

Great solution for any guitar that has little room between the body and the strings for a pickup. Super thin. Heavy and solid construction. I put it on a 1930's Cromwell (Gibson mail order brand) archtop. It worked fine in the mid region between the neck and bridge. There's very little room between string and body on that guitar. Having the pickup in that mid region area on the body was annoying for me, though. I'm a fingerpicker, so I kept hitting the pickup with my finger picks. Was hoping for a neck region pickup. This is the thinnest pickup out there, so, I wound up biting the bullet and cut a whole out by the neck and slipped the pickup in there. Worked great. I wanted built-in volume and tone controls too, anyway. So I went ahead and wired those in also. At first I put the pickup in turned around (to where the label was on the bottom). It fit in better that way. I soon learned that these pickups are compensated. They're built to where the high E and B strings don't have as much output as the rest of the strings. That's so the wound strings can balance with the more active unwound steel strings. So I had to turn it back around and rethink the installation. These pickups are designed to be used with acoustic and/or electric strings. I found that phosphor bronze acoustic strings didn't have much output on the wound end. Nickel plated and pure nickel electric strings work great.

It's a true noise-free humbucker. Through a tube amp it sounds a lot like a P-90 to me. Super clean and clear sounding when run direct to the PA.

I bought this one from the return section. This is the second piece of equipment I've purchased through Musicians Friend's return section. Everything has worked out great with both. Just like buying new, from my experiences - a bit cheaper and no shipping charge.

I put it on my National Collegian single cone resonator, and the first string started to fret out after 7th fret. I don't play slide, so it's important for me to be able to fret anywhere. The string was hitting the pickup, which apparently is not slim enough as advertised. I can't return the pickup either, even though it would be easy to reapply a sticky tape I imagine. Still MF wouldn't accept it. Do NOT buy this pickup if you are finger-style player!

I won't comment on the tone, since it's non functional as it is.

These pickups are great for archtop acoustics and require no hole in the top, and are great for dobro.

purchased this pickup for permanent installation in my Republic resonator guitar. when I received it, it was different than what is shown in picture. actual item no longer made (I called Lace Sensor). now has plastic molded 1/4 jack with slot for guitar strap button to mount on guitar. no longer available with option of threads with ability to mount permanent or temporary. not sure why option to permanently no longer available since pickup is mounted with double sided tape and likely very difficult to remove. to mount permanent I needed to cut of existing 1/4 jack and solder cable to a permanent jack I had available. works great. other than that no complaints.

Great for my resonator, allows me to play at full volume and has a good sound. After only 1 day of use the cable connector went bad, Now has an intermittent signal. It never got pulled on to cause this damage. For me it is a none issue because I am going to hardwire it into a input jack but It was kind of disappointing to see this failure so quick.

I now have all of my resonator guitars equipped with this pick-up. I have no change in the tone of the guitars when they are dialed into the board or the amps that I use. Very highly recommended for anyone who wishes to amplify their guitar.

It worked great right out of the box. I will be installing it permanently on my Honey Dipper resonator. Sounds great through a vintage Fender amp. It imparts some of the tone of the guitar and some of it's own magnetic pick up sound and ends up with a pretty nice blend. Does not feed back easily. Not a purist's choice but a good pickup for electric blues.

I heartily endorse this product for resonator guitar players . This is used in conjunction with the devise it goes through. Tune your instrument to the sound you want by striking the first or second high string and set the board to your liking. Then add any other sound enhancers you wish to use if any.

Comments about Lace Ultra Slim Acoustic Sensor:

This pickup makes my 1936 Harmony archtop sound like a hugely expensive 'jazz box' costing much more. The sound is even across all strings; I have it mounted near the end of the neck and it's just a great warm and mellow jazzy sounding pickup. Hat's off to the folks at Lace for coming up with this beauty.
It does everything it's supposed to do and, very well. I was searching for a pickup to fit in a 1936 Harmony archtop with limited clearance between the strings and body and this one fit perfectly.
Again a perfect ten. The build quality is flawless.
I'd have paid more than the selling price given it's quality and sound.
