This Lace Dually humbucker pickup is made by combining two Sensor Hot Gold single coil bridge pickups. The 13k resistance in the hot bridge indicates more power and cut for harder rockin' and searing solos.

Lace has built the Sensor Hot Gold pickups since 1985. Used exclusively by Fender until 1996, these Lace Sensor pickups have the same specifications with the same great tone.

Hot Gold Lace Sensor bridge pickups are designed to duplicate an early Fender single coil pickup with an impressively hot signal. Crisp top end and bell-like tone, it uses the latest technology to provide excellent tone for today's players.

The Lace Sensors have a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing annoying 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional pickups.

Unlike ordinary pickups, it generates 36 separate magnetic "sensing" fields that, in the areas where they contact the string, "read" the strings' vibration. (Regular guitar pickups only generate anywhere from 4 to 12 fields).

The Lace Sensor guitar pickup also has Radiant Field Barriers: metal slides that frame the inner core of the Sensors and perform two functions. The first is to shield the Sensor from the outside noise and 60-cycle hum. The second is to produce broader, yet more concentrated, umbrellas of sensing field than standard magnetic pickups.

Less Noise, More Harmonics
As compared to standard pickups, the Lace pickup reads a greater physical area of the string, while picking up less outside interference. This makes the signal-to-noise ratio nothing short of phenomenal for a single coil system. Also, a wider range of harmonic content is read by the Sensor, delivering a more complex tonal response.

Increased Sustain, Truer Pitch
Since it operates so efficiently, Lace Sensors can use much lower energy magnets than ordinary pickups, and this in turn brings about a whole new realm of properties. In regular pickups, the magnetic fields are so strong they physically dampen, or drag on, the strings' vibration, reducing sustain and actually changing the pitch. But in the Lace Sensor, string dampening is virtually nonexistent. This means your sustain is increased dramatically while the string holds its true pitch for the duration of the note.

Lace includes a three-inch mini data CD that includes all its latest wiring diagrams in color along with Lace's most current pickup and guitar catalogs. Also includes a warranty card and other useful information regarding Lace Music Products.

  • I personally love the the Hot Gold HSS pickups

    First of all, I watched video Demo on the LACE pickup (PUP) company?s website. Their Technician Reggie played a Fender guitar with S-S-S Hot Gold Lace PUP. He really did a great demo showing all 5-selector switch position sounds (The sounds were awesome). Reggie played through a Fender 65 Deluxe Reissue amp (one 12? speaker, 22 watts, and all tube). But, I see in his demo the amp is miked, so I can only wonder what else is pushing the amp sounds (Will I hear the same sound at home on my solid-state amp?). OK, with that in mind, I have a mint condition 1993 Fender Squire with factory floating Floyd Rose (MIJ). However, I wanted to upgrade this 20-year old guitar with all new parts. It was originally built with only two pots (Volume and Tone). So, I installed three new pots for: VOLUME 250K (for all PUP sensors), TONE 250K (for Middle & Neck sensors), and TONE 500K (for Dually bridge sensor). I then installed the HSS Hot Gold LACE sensors. I also installed a tiny 3-way selector toggle switch (on-on-on) for the Dually PUP. When the 5-way is put all the to the Dually PUP, I can use the toggle to split the bridge Dually sensor (3-ways): Single sensor towards neck, or Double sensors, or Single sensor towards Bridge (S-H-S). With everything installed, I do hear a much more Fender Punchy sound, especially at the 12-fret. And, I hear more sustain. However, as advertised, I was expecting screaming high leads from the Dually in the toggled H-position (both sensors on). What I heard was it was just louder and a fatter sound. So, I toggled the Dually sensor to the Single position towards neck, and then tried the single position towards bridge, and it just sounded almost the same (just a little brighter). However, I have to mention amps that I used to test this guitar could be the problem for me and not the LACE PUP getting the sound Reggie revealed. I have a 200 watt Randall RG (one preamp tube with two 12" speakers), and I have an Ibanez 80 watt Wholetone solid-state Jazz Amp (one 15" speaker). Naturally the 15" Jazz amp speaker sounded warmer, than Randall with two 12" speakers. But, all-in-all there was not much difference between the sounds from these amps. So, I called LACE Company Technician Reggie, and he recommended that to get the best sound out of these pickups, I should try a? Fender 65 Deluxe Reissue Amp? (all tube, 22 watts, one 12? speaker). Anyway, I am no expert on these PUP or any amps. I think some of the sound difference was that Reggie played with S-S-S and I have S-S-H. Yup, Reggie has a single coil (S) at the bridge and I have a Dually (H), so, mine is warmer sounding at the bridge. I personally like these pickups, per the 20-year old original factory PUPS sounded very bad. However, I am not sure the cost for my customizing a 20-year old guitar was worth the sound I am getting with my amps. I will try to also post a photo of my blue 1993 Fender with these PUPS. It really does look great. But, I am not sure yet that I am getting all the sounds I expected from these Lace Hot Gold PUPS. So, the Jury is still out (so to speak). I guess one day, I will need to take my guitar to a music store and test drive the 65 Deluxe reissue Amp. But, for now, I am very happy with what I hear. By the way, I bought all the parts from Guitar Center Winter Park, Florida. And, their Guitar Technician Matthew, installed everything for me at a reasonable PRICE. Most of all he did an outstanding job.
