The L.R. Baggs M1A-L M1 Active Left-Handed Pickup has built-in all class A electronics that eliminate the need for any external preamps.
Makes the M1 Active Left-Handed Pickup compatible with any outboard equipment. The volume control gives you fingertip access in any performing situation.

The M1 Active is a humbucking pickup - with a twist. In a common stacked humbucker, the second, lower coil cancels hum, but doesn't contribute anything positive to the sound. In fact, it can muddy the sound of the main coil. L.R. Baggs unlocks the second coil. This allows
it to make a positive sonic contribution while maintaining the pure, open sound of a single coil - without the hum.

The M1 Active is powered by a 3-volt lithium battery and will give you over 1,000 hours of playing time.

In the M1, the hum-canceling coil is suspended under the main coil by a tuned support that allows it to move in three dimensions. The primary coil moves with the guitar top and creates a body signal in the suspended secondary coil. This brings the M1 to life, with string and body sound all in one. It's like having a dual pickup system in your soundhole.

L.R. Baggs carefully tuned the support to control motion in all three dimensions. This allows the presence and realism from the body signal
to be selectively added while suppressing runaway feedback.

Includes pre-wired strapjack assembly, spare pole pieces, self-stick wire clips, and spare battery.

Best sounding and easy to install

Comments about LR Baggs M1A-L M1 Active Left-Handed Pickup:

This was rated the best sounding acoustic gitar pick up since it came out by guitar player and acuostic guitar magazines. I find that it's more of a fingersyle players pick up. If your a strummer as opposed to a picker, you are going to hit the pick up with your pick and get that clicking noise. If you do alot of palm mute technique, you will also get that click from tapping your pick up. If you are using your fingers or doing anything with precision single note type leads, this is the cleanest pick up available. It's a great pick up, you just have to adjust your strum.

Very Impressed

Comments about LR Baggs M1A-L M1 Active Left-Handed Pickup:

First of all, I am a left handed guitar player. I play mostly acoustic/electric guitars and very seldom an electric guitar. Being a lefty, I know there is limited choices for us southpaws unless you want to spend a thousand dollars or more. Most of us start with an entry level acoustic and work our way up. Most beginner acoustic guitars do not have solid tops until you get in the $350 range. (especially the acoustics for lefties) When we get ready to add a sound hole pickup we will usually end up with string imbalance. The E & B strings are not nearly as loud as the four remaining wound strings when plugged in. This can be a real problem if you "pick" a lot of single notes. This problem is not as noticeable if you are mainly a strummer. Over the years, I have tried quite a few brands of sound hole pickups and LR Baggs is the first manufacturer to market a left handed version. Due to disappointment with other brands, I had resorted to only using under saddle pickups with onboard preamps which are more expensive to purchase plus an additional $75-$150 to get one installed. I had gave up on sound hole pickups until I saw this LR Baggs M1A-L left handed pickup. I decided to give it what was going to be my final trial. I was really impressed with the way it sounds and how easy it was to install plus it is user friendly by being fully adjustable. I didn't have to adjust anything on it, shim it or flip it around backwards. It was perfect right out of the box. It impressed me so much that I bought a second one for an old Fender that I had laying around. She sounds so good, it's hard to lay her down now. I highly recommend you buy this pickup if you want to convert a lefty acoustic to an A/E. This is the easiest and least expensive way to do it and be satisfied in the end. If you really want to wake up that old acoustic add a bone nut & saddle with some good quality bridge pins and new strings while you are at it....Good Luck!
