Great pick-up. Had it installed on a Fender F-210 Accoustic guitar and the sound is outstanding. I love the volume control. It gives me flexibility on sound level and feedback. I recommend it for anybody who currently owns an accoustic guitar they love but want to connect to an amp.
I bought 2 IBeam active elements for 2 different guitars. I was interested in staying away from the under-saddle configuration due to variation in performance due to difficulties in setup. IBeam is set under the bridgeplate and avoids these hassles. Setup by local luthier was easy and performance is great. Surprisingly bright sound but not overly so. Best performance is with an acoustic amp. Some feedback when using a normal amp but not a major problem.
A Guitar Center tech recommended this for my classical guitar. I was concerned that this item is for acoustic steel string; they make one for classical. The difference is the shape of the pickup. However, my guitar has a lot fan bracing with no flat space on the undersaddle area. He mounted it on the fan braces under the saddle, but the sound wasn't great. As per installation instructions, he moved the pickup a little toward the sound hole with great improvement in the sound. I'm an amplified tenderfoot, so I don't know the code words to describe the sound, other than to say it sounds fantastic on my Behringer ACX450.
