A discrete mic/pickup system that lets you adjust to get the perfect blend of your guitar's natural tone.

After 30 years of effort, LR Baggs has created the Anthem Tru-Mic acoustic guitar microphone which does what every amplified acoustic guitarist has dreamed about and no other pickup manufacturer has been able to create yet-unlocked the potential of a microphone to capture the very essence of your guitar with high-feedback resistance for demanding stages. Not obvious, but equally important, is that the natural ease and dynamics of the Anthem Tru-Mic guitar microphone liberates you to play freely without having to compensate for the pickup system. Now you're free to play the way you like, plugged in or not.

For the Anthem acoustic guitar mic, LR Baggs used no modeling or illusions. It's not "like" a mic. It's not "like" your guitar. This is a mic, and what you will experience is your guitar-loud and with the fidelity and dynamics that come from a real microphone.

Tru-Mic Technology
At the heart of the LR Baggs Anthem guitar mic is a revolutionary type of microphone. Using a proprietary noise-canceling mic, the Anthem Tru-Mic eliminates any annoying honky or boxy qualities that have been previously associated with internal miking, leaving the pure and natural sound of your guitar the way only a real mic is capable of doing. Because this LR Baggs acoustic mic is positioned within a few millimeters of the guitar top, it has very high gain before feedback. The mic housing mounts easily to the bridge plate and the mic capsule hovers just 3mm above its surface to take advantage of the PZM or boundary effect. This Tru-Mic technology picks up the sound of the vibrations of the entire soundboard and makes the LR Baggs guitar mic unusually free from placement issues.

Mic and Piezo Pickup: A Radical Technology
The sound quality and feedback resistance of the Anthem Tru-Mic acoustic microphone now allows the mic to be the primary sound source in a mic/pickup system. This is unlike previous systems where only a small amount of the mic could be used to add some air to the dominant pickup signal. This is a radical new relationship between a mic and a pickup, as all of the detail, warmth, and personality of your guitar is captured by the Tru-mic. The mic is augmented, for only the very lowest frequencies, capturing the punch and authority of your playing, by the LR Baggs Element under saddle pickup.

The featherweight control unit controls all of the essentials, volume, mix, and phase. It nestles securely just inside of the soundhole for easy fingertip access. The mix control allows a full-blend between the augmented mic and full-range pickup. A multi-segment battery check allows you to maximize battery life and peace of mind.

Under the hood is an all-discrete preamp/mixer with the pure, clean LR Baggs signature sound that is trusted by top artists around the world. Thanks to it's intelligent engineering, you can just plug in and enjoy the real sound of your acoustic guitar and the way you play, night after night.

  • Genuine Acoustic Sound

As reviewed by Tone Freak on 8/9/2010

As a player, the acoustic guitar is my main instrument. I've been playing long enough that my guitars run in the thousands of dollars rather than hundreds. I just put the Anthem in my Santa Cruz OM/PW this week. I am truly knock out! I've had numerous Fishman, B Band and the K&K systems but the Anthem I believe is considerably superior. When you own a expensive guitar that sounds incredible you don't want put a system in it that mangles the beauty of it's sound. I've have spent lots of time and money in the search for pure acoustic tone. I have never been happier with the sound of my guitar than I am with this set up. When I picked up my guitar from my luthier who works in a high end acoustic shop he was impressed after he installed the Anthem in my guitar. Being a newer product he had not heard it yet. He was so impressed he was going to tell to the guys who run the retail side of the shop to place a order with L R Baggs and have some of these systems in stock. For those who may shy away from a mic set up because of feedback, I've already done several gigs playing pretty loud at times and never once had any feedback issues. The Anthem is a smart purchase for those who are seeking to amplify yet preserve the pure acoustic sound of your guitar.

  • anthem pickup

As reviewed by t carey on 7/30/2010

like everyone always looking for the most natural sound. tried lots of pickups. results from muddy to harsh to electric ! i play rockin tunes so i need a low end drive without a low end howl! this pickup is the best . had it 3 days and did my first show. played 2 hours straight. never had so many comments on my guitar soud ! from what kind of effects are you using to how many strings do you have ! i don't use any effects. i just play hard . i'm using an early 70's fg 1000 yamaha. it really sounded like my guitar . really really satisfied ! if you have a good sounding guitar this might be worth checking out ! i would have liked the blend control to have a center notch. on stage you can't hear whats coming out the sound system so it's difficult to hit the same blend all the time. still great !

  • My Taylor never sounded so good live...

As reviewed by Matt Bulthuis on 12/6/2010

Bought this for my Taylor K-14c which had a Fishman Acoustic Matrix Natural I (aftermarket) previously installed. I love the way the guitar sounded with the well-broken in Koa (its a '98) and the cedar top, but the live/amplified sound was terrible. I carefully replaced the Fishman myself (I have tools but I'm far from a guitar tech) in about an hour and am amazed at the depth and fullness of the sound now. I ran it through my stereo Trace acoustic amp for a few hours dialing it in and was thrilled with the sound; even at 75% volume there was no feedback unless I held the soundhole up to my amp. After that I played through the Bose PA system at my church for a practice and was really blown away. In my opinion it was superior to my other guitars (314ce koa and 855ce 12-string) which are both much newer and have Taylor's latest Expression system. Definitely a worthy investment and I assure you that if you are going from an under saddle to the anthem you will be amazed. Not even a hint of feedback despite some heavy playing and monitors and house with good volume. Most of my playing is flat picking and rhythmic strumming, so I play pretty hard and this pickup still sounds great and doesn't feed back. And its controls are flexible enough to adjust the sound for my Trace amp and the house PA at church. Awesome. I definitely have found my pickup. I wish it was a little cheaper; I would buy one for my other guitars as well! Pros: Great, tunable sound/tone; easy install with only one hole needed for the jack; soundhole controls attractive and low profile Cons: expensive (IMHO)
