LP008 Rock Ridge Rider Cowbells are based on a standard rock cowbell with a Jenigor bar across the top edge, secured with specially designed rivets. The bar has a dampening effect on the sound, resists denting, and gives the LP bell a somewhat higher pitched sound than the L'il Ridge Rider cowbell. Made of 14-gauge steel.

The cowbell is a great buy for all levels of experience. The dampening bar/plastic bar was a great idea for that ideal rock sound. I also want to thank the great people who work at GC especially Thomas from Cherry Hill, NJ. He went aboeve and beyond in helping me with this purchase.
...Cowbell there is plain and simple. i havent had it that long only for a couple months now and theres not evn a tiny dent. i play my cowbells REALLY hard as i play harder music types. this cowbell's plastic guard is amazingly effective. it has a perfect sound not too high or low and its sound can be changed quickly and easily by hitting it with a different part of your stick. 5 STAR this baby, i never have to get a new one again!
This cowbell is a great buy for all buyers on all levels of experience. The dampening bar/plastic bar was a great idea for that ideal rock tone. other genres like jazz or latin could go for other types of cowbell, but this one is great for rock.
And the only prescription is more cowbell. Honestly, if you are looking for a cowbell, look no further. The plastic "Ridge" really does aid in durability. I have heard that the rivets might come loose and rattle, but I havent experienced that in a year of use. As for the sound, it is really big and beefy for a cowbell. Perfect for driving a beat, not as much for little accents where I would prefer a smaller, more higher-pitched model.
To be blunt this cowbell is everything I've been looking for. It's sound is not too high and not too low, just right. And the dampening bar gives it a great tone without having to add tape or whatever method of dampening you use. Not to mention it's durable as can be. Being primarily a rock drummer this could be why I like the cowbell, so it may not be for everyone; ie those looking for a more Latin flavor, if that's the case the regular Black Beauty is a great starting point. But for playing the likes of Robin Trower's "Lady Love" this bell can't be beat. I use mine with a Pearl Bass Drum Hoop clamp and I love it. Added some needed flare to my kit.
