This is my first cajon. I play some other types of hand drums and a drum kit - and after seeing some videos and hearing about cajons, I had to have one. I watched a video from guitar center of someone playing this particular model, and I feel like with the one I got you can hear the snares better, which is what I wanted. It has a very low and deep bass sound, even if you just tap it with a finger. The higher pitched snare sounds come best when hitting in the upper left and right corners, rather than the middle. It feels solid and durable, yet is light weight, and the construction looks great in all details. My favorite way to play it is stomping along on a tambourine on the floor to keep the beat.

I got what I paid for.

I should have brought the more expensive model.

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

I knew that this would be a great product when it was still in the box. After UPS dropped it off on my front porch, I brought it inside to open up the box. As I moved it around to open the box, an awesome tone resonated through the box as it moved. I use this when we are all sitting around jamming. If I have several other musicians over my house and we are sitting around playing acoustic guitars it is just natural that this Cajon comes out. It has a great sound and was very economical. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there are much better cajons out there, but the price also reflects that. As stated in th title though, this is by far the best boom for the buck.

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

Can't really beat it for the price. The black plastic that makes up everything but the wood face is cheaper than it appears in the picture, but plenty strong and has a decent resonance. The plastic actually looks a little rough and worn around the corners of mine. Probably the cheapest full size you can find (especially when it's on sale so much). Mine didn't come with the same 'City' decal, though, but oh well.

My first serious drum of any kind. So far I'm loving it. I have had guitars and other instruments for ages but this new endeavor is incredible fun. It has a lovely finish and a wonderful sound.

Lightweight and easy to transport. Perfect for a casual jam session. Black color looks really sleek. It's obviously one of the more inexpensive models, but it's the perfect first cajon, nothing fancy, simple, good quality drum.

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

I have been playing drums for many years but I have never had any experience with a cajon. I decided to give it a try since it looked as a fun and practical instrument to play. And I was not wrong, it fun to play and easy to carry and gig ewith.
I can only speak about this specific cajon since I have not played others more than a few minutes. I decided to buy this one because of the price, the reputation of the LP brand, its looks, and the customer reviews. I made an excellent choice.
This cajon sounds great. Incredible deep bass and excellent definition and sensitivity on the snare section. You can create an incredible array of different sounds with it. The LP cajon has great projection and a clean and pure sound. It records great, even with just an open mic. In fact I got a better recorded sound with just a room mic than with close micing.
The price is amazing and if you catch a $20 off $100 coupon like me, it is a no brainer. I also bought the Vater cajon brushes and they are OK, but the best sound I get is with my hands. I tried several add ons like a seat or cymbals to attach to it and I realized that the only thing you need is the cajon, the rest is fluff.
This is a great instrument and I am planning to keep it, I really don't see needing an upgrade, ever!
