I got this thing to use as a kick pedal on a 16 in. floor tom. I put a kick pedal beater on it - mounted it and it works. So far - so good

      Comments about LP Cajon Pedal:

Using a lock washer to secure the cable end to the beater axle is poor practice - the locking feature on the washer will cut the cable. I replaced it with a flat washer and changed out the acorn nut for one with a NyLock insert. No issues now. I also aligned the cable take off with the anchor point on the beater axle - more efficient and no bending loads to jack up the pedal efforts. Got it Saturday and worked it hard for four hours on the following day.

I used this with a Trio and it broke in the first set of the first go I used it. The cable started fraying a few songs in and eventually snapped ruining the gig. Fortunately it's a pedal for a cajon so I was able to limp through the rest of the night playing it as it was ment to be played.

          Sitting on the shelf

          Comments about LP Cajon Pedal:

I bought this thinking I'd free up my hands to play some other percussion instruments, but I didn't realize the sacrifice in cajon sound generation. Yes, I understand that it's not supposed to be as good as what you'd get playing with your hands. But, even with several adjustments of where the beater hits the cajon surface, I found the results to always be poor. I have "modify the beater or beater post" on my "to do" list, in an effort to try and generate a more realistic hand-played sound. But for now, it's just sitting on my shelf as a backup option to what I've found to be a much better solution... my Roland SPD-30 (Octapad) with the Roland KD-9 kick pedal.

On the upside, it does seem to be quality made... which is why I'm at least keeping it around as a backup option. I take excellent care of my gear, but for those that are a little less careful during pack-up and transport, you'll want to be careful with the cable and connections (high potential for breakage opportunities).

          Comments about LP Cajon Pedal:

Buyer be warned. I've been shipped an incorrect order twice for this pedal. Each time it has arrived without the connector bar. Guitar Center has been slow at best in addressing the issue and obviously did not check the second time since they shipped without the connector bar again. Customer service made me drive 40 minutes to return the pedal they shipped incorrectly. Now I sit on hold awaiting another correction. This pedal is very ineffective without the connector bar.

Best pedal for price - Fine tuning setup instructions would help

          By

          from NJ

          Comments about LP Cajon Pedal:

Purchased this pedal as it was recommended by Paul Jennings @ NAM 2014. It's the best pedal for the price. The Schlagwerck is too expensive, and the Gibralter is cheap and not reliable. I wanted the pedal to give me more percussion options when using my Cajon as a kit setup. Works great and good feel/pedal action. Basic set up is very simple. However, just moving the beater stick position up or down did NOT quite hit the bass sweet spot on my Sela Cajon. Fortunately my husband had the right tool to loosen the connection at the base of the beater stick where it connects to the pedal assembly. I needed to move it left till it hit the sweet spot; then it was perfect. At the first venue I used it, the kick sound was so good I didn't need it miked when playing with a piano, bass guitar, flute and 6 miked vocalists.

          Great pedal!

          Comments about LP Cajon Pedal:

This is a well designed cajon pedal. Works perfect, sounds great! Everything is sturdy and solid. Tried the Gibraltar cajon pedal first... Bad! Spend the extra dollars and get the LP. Gibraltar mechanism broke three times within minutes of use. Have already put more hours on the LP and no problems. Combine this pedal with LP cajon brushes and you have a mini kit feel.
