This Soul Cajon from Latin Percussion features a unique hexagonal rear panel for focused, enhanced bass. Designed by Mario Cortez, it's front striking panel is made of Finnish birch.
The cajon is a truly amazing instrument. Ostensibly a wooden box, the cajon drum is much more, providing many striking areas and "sweet spots" and a range of tones from snappy highs to resonant lows. When constructed meticulously and placed in the hands of a capable percussionist, the cajon can open up a variety of pitches and timbres, complementing flamenco and various Latin genres.
The LP Soul Cajon by Mario Cortes is constructed from specially selected birch pieces. Birch is a wood admirably suited to cajons owing to its emphasis on clean highs and natural low end, both obtainable without excessive player effort.
