I bought the LP Performers Series Congas as a beginning conga player and they are great! I have since used them for live shows and recording. They sound amazing and are a great quality for the price you pay. Great for players of all levels.
I found a great set of used LP Perfomer Congas (Conga and Tumba sizes)online at the Fountain Valley store in California. I was a little unsure about ordering these without seeing them as I live in Minneapolis. I called the store and the guys said these were in great condition (some minor scratches) and that they souned great. I decided to purchase these as the shipping cost to my door was minimal at $10 or so. I could always bring them back if I didn't like them to a store in Minneapolis as GC offers the 30-day return policy. The congas arrived at my door within a week. I was impressed at how protected and well packaged they were. The congas were in practically brand new shape, and they sound great! My instructor commented on the quality and sound as well, saying how good it sounded. My next purchase will be a stand for these. I highly recommend the LP Performer series if you are starting out (I gig out regularly on the full drum kit and decided to learn the congas this year), and want to use these for gigging at a later time-without spending tons of money. I looked at the Aspire line and Meinl, but I believe the Performer series is a step up in sound and quality, and for resale value, you probably will get more out of these in the end.
