The sound produced by LP's Salsa line of cowbells can't be given a description in words, it must be heard. That being said it is excellent for use in both latin and fusion styles of music. I would have liked for it to have come with some other means of mounting (without extra money) somewhere other than the hihat, but what can you say? Overall I would highly recommend this cowbell.
Where all other cowbells fall short, this LP Salsa cowbell satisfies all of your cowbell cravings. Don't let the product title deceive you! I don't own a single timbale, but it blends nicely with my pdp platinum set.
Sound-wise, this cowbell IMO has the perfect balance of highs and lows. I have played other (cheaper) rock cowbells and they all seem to be piercingly high or unnaturally low. The LP salsa creates that tasty "formula" cowbell sound that you imagine in your head when you daydream!
When you play a wide range of genres, you want something that will sound good no matter what. This cowbell will do that!!! with flying colors.
(oh! and for mounting i bought the claw by LP. i attach it to the rim of my floor tom next to my ride. hope that helps!!)
