The Kustom '36 Coupe combo amp uses a dual 6L6 power tube platform with a 12AX7 preamp section and is rated at 36 watts RMS. With Master Volume controls on both the Rhythm and Lead channels, it's easy to dial in the perfect amount of gain. From warm, chunky rhythm tones to high-voltage, high-sustain rock, it's all there.

Each channel also provides a Pull-Bright function that, when activated, modifies the low-end response for a chunkier, British-type tone. When not pulled, the tonal response is fuller and rounder, a more American-type tone. By the way, the EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble) reflects pure, vintage Kustom specifications.

Drawing on its heritage, Kustom teamed up with U.S. speaker manufacturer Eminence to produce a new driver exclusively for the Coupe Series. The result is the KEI (Kustom-Eminence Integrated) Turbo 12 speaker. With its distinctive aluminum dust cap, the Turbo 12 is a modern interpretation of a vintage speaker design that gives players a taste of the original speaker's tonal properties, which were great for cleaner tones, while successfully handling more modern, high-gain sounds as well.

The '36 Coupe provides an Accutronics Reverb unit with Tone control (another vintage Kustom feature). You'll also find a Tube-Driven Effects Loop, a Baltic Birch cabinet, a speaker-emulated Line Out and a 3-function footswitch that switches channels, turns the effects on or off, and also activates a 10db overall volume boost for solos.

From sparkling clean to stinging blues and roaring rock, the '36 Coupe does it all. Offering boutique amp tones at production amp prices, you owe it to yourself to test drive a Coupe.

Versatile awesome tube amp!

By Ken Macy

from MA

I've been playing guitar for over 14 years (7 years professionally) and I play a lot of different styles of music (everything but metal). I wanted an amp that covers all the bases and takes pedals well. This amp does it hands down! With the turn of a few knobs you can get anything from sparkling fender type cleans to chunky full rich overdrive (depending on what channel you select) The overdrive/distortion gives it a cool zz top/creedence clearwater sound (60's/70's distortion). I like how the amp has separate volumes and gain for the clean and lead(distortion) channels. I like that the eq is shared too. Some other features include: a boost that you can adjust the volume for on the back of the amp with the 3 button footswitch. Also there is a standby switch along with a tone knob for the reverb. You also get a bright switch with each channel by pulling the volume knobs up. A lot of reviews I read were wondering if this amp is loud enough with a drummer: ABSOLUTELY! It's great for small to medium sized club/restaurant gigs. If not? Use the line out if you have to connect to a sound board or PA system(instead of throwing a mic in front of it). I also use an amp stand to give the amp more projection from off the floor which helps out a lot for monitoring purposes and volume. Some cons are that the initial "channel" switch from clean to distortion on top of the amp looks flimsy (use the footswitch). I also don't like the amp handle although I haven't had any issues with it. Other than that this is a great amp! The look of the amp is cool: I got a lot of compliments on its vintage car look with the "tuck and roll" design on the front. It's not an extremely heavy amp to carry either(compared to my vox ac15). The cab is made out of baltic birch and looks like it'll last me a very long time. This amp is definitely gig worthy and I also recorded it with the band. It sounds amazing! Especially with my Gibson Les Paul and Fender Telecaster. If your looking for a great amp (MADE IN THE USA too!) with lots of tonal features and just an all around qualty amp GET THIS AMP! You won't regret it.

Versatile amp

By Grant

from Toronto, Ontario

I found this little gem in the corner of a local music store, on sale for $400 new. It seems that no one in Canada carries this brand except for some stores in Vancouver. Needless to say I grabbed it up for a great bargain. Its a versatile amp that can produce some fabulous classic rock and blues tones. The only down-side is that the clean tones aren't what you would get from a Fender, and if you plug it in next to a Princeton reverb or similar, you might be disappointed. For the price it does the job and is a lot of fun to play. I find the reverb a bit tinny sounding so I use an external reverb and it sounds fine.

A true gem

By Bert Pagano

from Albany, NY

The stupidest decision I have made in the past 5 years was to sell my Kustom 36 coupe. This amp had it all but I had too many amps and decided this amp was not enough power for me. I have since been through Fenders and Marshalls and none match up to the quality, sound and affordability of this amp. The handle is the only weak point of this amp - much to fragile for the weight, but otherwise everything you'd want from a combo amp and more.

Mesa and Marshall in one

By Animal

from Lebanon,PA

I own this amp in blue and it is so cool. This amp provides more bottom end fullness then I expected. I love to have Mesa Boogie tone on one channel and Marshall flavor on the other. Channel one cleans up well so it works great with pedals. It's nice being able to adjust the reverb. I get classic crunch and saturated distortion without blowing my ears out. I recommend this amp for anyone who likes to have a wide range of tone at their finger tips.
