This amp is very loud for a 16 watt RMS unit. The effects need improving on though. If you intend to use the built in distortion , i'd suggest going with a pedal. the reverb and delay are analog so there again , a pedal. But for the price and size , it does prove to be a powerful practice amp with enough volume to not be drowned out with some live drums.

Let's see aside from the fact it is loud...it is ugly loud. Loud is all it is. NO bottom at all even with every thing else rolled back and the low end cranked to ten. Some sort of so called reverb/delay like someone who has no idea of what either of those should sound like was charged with putting it in this truly incredibly crappy amp. Had it for four weeks tried like hell to like it. Sent it back. A waste of money.

Great little utility amp

By Gary Weaver

from Border Arizona

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I ordered from this page about a month ago. I discovered that I really like the clean with all the tone knobs down - maybe a little bass boost.I have been running my Tonelab ST stereo out to the CD-input. Tonight, I went back to the guitar in for better volume control. The speaker has more mid than what I would like, but I have no problem with it.I've very happy with it. Not had a lot of amps over 30+ years, but I have had a Twin, Deluxe, and a Princeton. This is a nice little amp. I was looking for a something like my old brown Princeton with a little more bass and this does pretty well, but there is no tube drive on board.

no regrets

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

Have owned everything over 35 years. fender, ampeg, peavy, tube to solid state. They come and go, this one stays. Into my 3rd year with it. Never get tired of that clean warm tone. The 12 inch speaker will not break up even with the clean channel up full thottle. Overdriving the lead channel isn't really extrodinary and the echo-delay effects sound kind of strange. The guitar plug doesn't want to go in or come back out but the tone and the price make up for all of that. It's my #1 amp.

Nice little amp.

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

Bought this as a temporary replacement for my blown head, something to practice on you know? Well not at ALL!I immediately plugged it in, I admit, the distortion isn't the greatest, the highs are thin, but that's I wanted it to be a little bit thin for that shrill black metal sound. So I played for a bit then plugged my RP100 effects processor into it.TOTAL CHANGE IN PACE! It sounds godly if you have the right setup! Crank up the pedal volume all the way, pedal gain all the way, and set on some heavy distortion with high lows, fairly high middle, and turn the high down a bit and you're in for some monstrous tones!Sure, it will get some feedback and white noise, but put it through a gate and all is well! For the price it's hard to match this one!I plugged mine into my version 1 Behringer 4X12" Ultrastack and holy hell, it sounds AMAZING! For the money you get monstrous amounts of volume if you find the need for it!Yet another great buy from the best music store there is!

great little amp

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

small, loud, light, simple. Everything anyone needs in an amp. I've had everything from cheap beginner amps to huge 120w 2x12s. This is where I've ended up, a small, nice sounding, sort of vintage amp. channels: clean channel has a nice tone. dirty channel is great, exept for all the white noise it makes once you turn it past 12 o'clockeffects: reverb is "spring", and delay is basic. I would've rather had hall reverb, but they both sound good.build: seems pretty sturdy, looks great. nice big 12" for better sound.Overall: its a great little amp for anything.

As a practice amp, absolutely superb

By Dylan K

from Iowa

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I bought this amp from my local music store with gift money. When I first looked at it, I thought it must be a at least a 50W amp. So I was surprised when I saw the price tag. I found that it is actually a 16W amp, which kind of blew my mind. I brought my new amp home, and as I started playing, I thought to myself that my effects from my pedal (digitech RP 8 good low end pedal) came through exactly as I wanted them to sound. My previous amp was a simple 5W, which I blew playing my bass guitar on, and the settings on the pedal were closer to what I wanted on the 12 gauge than I got on my old one, without changing anything. Of course all of this was on the clean channel. I took this amp to a small gig once, and after I turned it to about level eight I got a certain static under-sound. It is understandable, but the amp wasn't really loud enough for even the room I played in. The effects on the amp are absolutely minimal. It is my opinion that the gain on the lead channel gives a nice jazz buzz at about level four, but don't expect any metal distortion on it. The reverb/delay effect isn't really good for anything. I turn the knob all the way up and I put it on the reverb. This gives a nice backing to my effects, but it's entirely supplementary. The delay is not even worth considering using. I usually use the clean channel all the time, with the reverb as I said. This little amp's clean sound is absolutely beautiful to me, and it carries my effects pedal extremely well. To summarize, this is a large practice amp. It is not loud enough to perform well at gigs, and to get anything but a great clean sound, one must use a pedal. Kustom amps would do well to make 50W and 100W copies of this amp, if they do not already. My suggestion is to cut out the lead channel entirely to cut down on the price slightly, seeing as it is fairly unusable.

Cool Amp

By K-Chunk99

from Virginia

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

My brother got this amp a few months ago. It's really a great amplifier. Due to the 12 inch speaker, it gets quite louder than other combos in this watt range. The dirty channel is okay, but past about 2 o'clock on the gain nob and it all sounds the same. Not a metal amp really. Great sounds overall, especially in clean. Only real mess up is that the effects kinda, well, suck. Overall, a really great practice amp, but not quite loud enough for big gigs :)

Kustom 12 guage

By rockin'casey56

from st. cloud, Fl.

Comments about Kustom 12 Gauge Guitar Combo Amplifier:

Purchased this as a practice amp, you know light, easy transport. I am not impressed with the distortion channel, tinny and thin, however the clean channel is excellent and with my distortion pedals it sceams. This puppy is also plenty loud and probably loud enough for gigs. The only other thing I did not like is the lack of a footswitch for channel switching but since I only use the clean channel it's no biggie.
