I'm a musician of 27 years. First I would like to say, I don't know of any speakers that sound good straight out of the box. All speakers need to have an equalizer. I own a pair of Kustom mom 210 none powered, a pair of kpc210 powered, and a pair of kpx 112. All have alot of punch for small speakers. These speakers are affordable and dependable. I have owned a set of the 210s for 8 years and have had no problems. I play 30 or more gigs a year, and the Kustom speakers have served me very well. Bottom line these speakers work great and are loud and dependable. P.S. I would recommend an equalizer, and a BBE sonic maximizer, on all speakers in anyone's pa set up. You can clean the sound up with an EQ, and the BBE will create signal strength. This increases head room for volume so you don't have to push your power amps as hard. But you still have the option if needed. Hope this helps God bless and good day.

Feels solid, the sound is clear enough once you dial it in with your mixer's EQ but it would really benefit from an onboard EQ. The woofer sounds good for the most part, handles the mids and lows pretty nicely and doesn't get too boomy unless you really crank it up. The tweeter is just ear piercing though, and EQing doesn't seem to help here; I actually ended up shoving some cotton in the horn to muffle the highs a bit. In doing this I found out the grill is kind of a pain to remove; there are about 10 screws holding it in place plus the corner pieces need to be removed.

I've just been using it as a vocal monitor in my practice space, it's an old stone basement so we really needed to project vocals to the singer without turning up too loud. Using the monitor helped tame some feedback issues we were having, and the singer can hear himself a lot better now. In short, it doesn't sound the greatest and will definitely need some EQing and "modifications," but it works.

Can't be beat for the money

Comments about Kustom PA KPX112PM 12" Powered Monitor:

I purchased two of these when they were on sale. They have plenty of volume for onstage vocal reinforcement. If you were running a ton of full range instruments through them at high volume they will tend to break up a little bit, they are only 100 watts. But again, great value. I found it rather necessary to eq them, if you have that capability, rather than running them straight through your monitor output.

My only complaint is that there aren't any XLR thrus, only one XLR input and a parallel 1/4" jack. So if you want to daisy chain them you'll need some adapter cables or regular 1/4" cables. Also the covering tends to scratch and peel pretty easily, but again at this price they can't be beat.

Comments about Kustom PA KPX112PM 12" Powered Monitor:

I bought this monitor for myself for added volume on medium sized gigs. It has now been appropriated by the band as part of the regular band equipment setup as they were so impressed with the sound and power. I hope to get it back someday.

Comments about Kustom PA KPX112PM 12" Powered Monitor:

For the money it's a great value. Good sounding and light weight.

Just a caveat to others who may be in similar groups, we are not a loud group on stage, but our singer is quite experienced and powerful, and we have multi voice harmonies. Started out thinking this was a pretty good moderate volume monitor, but as the night wore on either the amplifier or piezo horn heated up and the frequency response changed, and by the end of the night HF squeals were pretty regular without any change in stage volume or other adjustments, other than downward on the fader. ( we use an electronic drum kit with own amplifier and low volume amps lined into the main PA)

It's pretty hard to argue with the price or the performance of this monitor for that price, but I won't be using it again on gigs. Perhaps it might work well for people with less demands for vocal reinforcement.

I run an FRFR setup with a POD HD500X. Both my guitar and mic go through the POD and then I send left & right 1/4" into a 'Y' cable and into the balanced in. So both my guitar and mic come through this monitor and sound FANTASTIC. The guys in the band still can't believe how good it sounds. Seriously can't say enough about it. I want another one!!!!

Comments about Kustom PA KPX112PM 12" Powered Monitor:

Kustom is a very reliable company that has been around since "rolled and pleated" was in vogue!
This speaker has exceptional power and punch for a 12" + Horn speaker. I use it for rehearsal for my
main keyboard system as well as keyboard monitoring on the gig. It is really reliable as a vocal monitor also. It would be nice to have included some EQ, especially for vocal monitoring, but for keyboards I can
adjust EQ from my mixer specifically for keyboards. The horns reproduce the high end very well for keyboards but the 12" is lacking somewhat in the low end (piano) for keyboards, not unusual for a 12".
The speaker is somewhat heavy but not bulky to carry. It has a very grip able handle and the "monitor" aspect of the cabinet shape lends itself to carrying it w/o banging up your knees! LOL! The cabinet covering is durable but it has to have wood under it vs. today's "plastic" cabinet construction. I like the fact that the inputs, AC and volume are on one end and a pole mount on the other. Even if used as a floor monitor it is easy to get to the controls on the end vs. the side!
