The SP2 delivers the legendary Kurzweil sound, with all of its detail and refinement, in a digital stage piano which is both professional and easy to use. Using the next generation of Kurzweil technology, the SP2 provides some of our best sounds; pianos, EPs, strings, pads, mallets and voices, all available at the touch of a button.
The Sound and Feel...
Endless hours of engineering and sample editing went into our Triple Strike Grand Piano sound, and it shows. Behind the scenes, the SP2's powerful synth engine brings these samples to life and makes them sing. The result is an instrument which not only sounds like, but feels like a real piano.
64 note polyphony ensures that notes will continue sounding even under high demand performance situations.
A USB interface allows the SP2 to connect to a computer for complete MIDI performance, data storage and OS updates.
World Class Effects...
The SP2 features Kurzweil's renowned effects processing technology, the same leading-edge technology found in all of our professional products. The SP2's effects can put the right finish on any sound whether it's crystal clear or warm and organic. Nothing else in the industry even comes close in this department.
Drum Patterns and Rhythms...
Ideal for both practice and songwriting, the SP2 comes equipped with 64 pre-recorded drum grooves, rhythms and adjustable metronome.

This Keyboard is the best I've ever played. I had only heard and dreamed of a Kuzweil and never thought anything could sound this good. It has souds I've been trying to create for 12 years. Never again will I play a gig without this baby at my fingertips.
I have owned and played this 'board for quite some time now, and it has definitely served its purpose. First off, this thing is very sturdy. The body is definitely built like a tank. Unfortunately, the end pieces are plastic and make me a little wary. As far as the sounds go, most of them are very good. I enjoy the piano sound very much, but unfortunately they don't vary much. They all seem to sound the sound except for small changes in attack and EQ. Also, the organs are very disappointing. Other than that, most of the sounds are usable and are quite tweakable if you work through the interface (or lack thereof). Overall, I like this keyboard and hope to see Kurzweil come out with something that even tops this one.
I recently purchased a Kurzweil SP2X 88 key stage piano.I have always been a fan of the Kurzweil piano samples and so have a bias toward their products. I purchased this board to have 88 weighted keys for playing in a jazz group with vocalist and the instrument is very good. It has a good feel, there is a set of 8 different piano sounds that are slightly different. There is an excellent Rhodes patch that is better than the actual Rhodes piano and much lighter. The only complaints that I have with this board is that a simple onboard sequencer would have been helpful.Kurzweil strings are realistic (though I think Yamaha does a better job with string sounds.)The price was quite reasonable and I would definitely recommend this board.
I've been playing piano/keybaord for 18 years and the SP2X is now my new favorite instrument. I just purchased this keyboard and after only 3 days of use I am already amazed at the outstanding quality and features on the SP2X. The piano sounds are wonderful, and to my surprise the E. Piano and Synth sounds are just as good (if not better) than my Roland Juno Synth. The best feature of this keyboard has to be the weighted key action... it feels like a grand piano and the touch sensitivity is perfect! I upgraded to this keyboard from a Casio PRIVIA and my only regreat is that I didn't do it sooner. Amazing instrument... I highly recommend it!!!
The SP2X has a solid feel and is built like a tank. The sounds are generally very good, starting with the grand piano, which is excellent. The electric pianos are also good. The other sounds are for the most part usable. Organs are weak. My only criticism is the 1980 era LED display. Other Kurzweil models come with an LCD display that can display acutal letters and words. I don't know why they did that. It makes navigating the various menus a lot more difficult. Overall, this is a great board for the money. I think it is very comparable to the Roland RD-700sx, but at half the price, it is a steal.
Wonderfull stage piano. The fully-weighted hammer-action is amazing and the grand piano sound like the Steinway we have. I cannot stop playing, my family is like losing patience, but well, in the night when everybody fall asleep, I put my Bose headphones on it and keep playing. Nice instrument, responding to my expectations.
