The CUP-2 Compact Upright is the latest addition to Kurzweil's growing family of home digital pianos. It offers an apparent ontradiction that most players will surely welcome; a top of the line, powerful sound system in an impossibly small, discreet enclosure.
Using the same chip technology as Kurzweil's acclaimed PC3 Series, the CUP-2 brings professional studio sound quality into your home. The CUP-2's 88 onboard sounds have been taken directly from the PC3, and represent the best of nearly two decades of Kurzweil sound design and engineering.
The famous Kurzweil Triple Strike Grand Piano is front and center (with a dedicated Grand Piano button), but the CUP-2 also provides world-class sounds in every category; rich strings and orchestral sounds, realistic electric pianos, drums, basses, guitars and synthesized sounds.
While the CUP-2 leaves a very small footprint in any room, it can also fill any room, great or small, with spectacular concert hall sound quality with its 140 watt bi-amped speaker system, the same system used in Kurzweil's top-of-the-line X-Pro Upright.
Beautifully designed and standing approximately 42" high, the CuP2 complements any home, school, or studio environment. It incorporates a slow-close fallboard that doubles as a music desk. The sleek one-touch slide-out control panel allows easy access to all of your functions. It uses the proprietary MARA® chip, giving you up to 32 layers per voice with exceptional digital signal processing.
The CUP2 uses an 88-note “wood embedded” graded hammer action, heavier in the lower end to progressively lighter in the upper end. The Grand Touch® tP40-wood action by Fatar of Italy, uses a special sandwich design of (Kostil® wood). This sophisticated action with increased throw perfectly balances response and momentum. The action is perfectly weighted in 4 separate zones using Kurzweil’s custom parameters of velocity mapping, balancing response and momentum for true piano feel.
