I just received the pickup today and installed it on my Kamaka tenor. The UK-1 install in a few minutes and sound very good through my Fender Acoustasonic. The best part is that it is very easy to install and most of all, no modification to the instrument. I will mostly use it for recording directly to my mac and recommend it to any musician that want to install a pickup without drilling into your instrument or having to file the bridge saddle.

The pickup installs relatively easy between the strings and bridge, and it does give good sound. That's the good part. Unfortunately, the heaviest pieces is at the very end of the long reed-like pickup, where the cable plugs in. The weight of the connectors puts stress on the unit, and if you hit it while playing hard, as I did a couple of days ago, the thing breaks off. Once that happens, you can't just glue it back together, since the tiny little wires don't mate any more.

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

It's really neat to amplify my uke and also to get reverb and tremolo.

    The sound quality is excellent.

It took about 10 minutes to install without modifying my uke in any way.

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

In a nutshell, I love it.

It is very sensitive, and it can pick up a lot of extraneous noise from strumming or even handling the Uke.

I tired it straight into an amp. It was a bit too bright, and even picked up the "noise" of my hand going up and down the neck.

Once I got it plugged into my DI (LR Baggs Para) and tweaked it, I got all the warmth and clarity I needed. It was my Uke...just louder. The uke sounds amazing through the DI into the board with this.

Installation was easy and I was glad to not have to modify my Uke to do it.

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

A piezo p/u is a piezo p/u. You're going to have 'cord noise' and they are prone to feedback. Velcro the cord and EQ out the feedback (while remembering not to point the sound hole at your amp). Sure beats drilling holes in your uke!

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

I loved the sound picked up by this pickup! It was natural and solid as a rock. The device itself is not so. It cantilevers out of the bridge area onto the front of the baritone ukulele and in hindsight I should have shored it up under there. I stepped on the cord on the bandstand (the dark!) and cracked it dead. It had the greatest sound and I did not have to alter my instrument. It was easy to install. It is just too delicate for my working situation. Darn! Operator error, I suppose.

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

Works great with clean amplifier settings. I hooked it up to a Fender Mustang; and effects such as echo, re verb and tremolo work fine.

It howls with feedback if you use an overdrive effect.

Overall, it works as advertised and is simple to install.

Best to install the small but handsome pick up while you are installing new strings,as it must fit securely under them and on the bridge.

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

Sounds great, easy to use, what more could you ask for? To put it on, you have to loosen all your strings until they are sagging off your uke. Then you slide it under the string knots on the bridge. So you have to go through the hastle to getting your uke back in tune, but that is much easier than drilling holes, etc. that may be required with alternative methods of installing a pick-up. Once you've got it in place, it works great.

Requires no damage or alteration to instrument and looks like part of the bridge. Sounds as good as any under-saddle pickup. Why didn't I think of this?

Comments about Kremona UK-1 Passive Piezo Pickup for Ukulele:

Very easy to install and use, good even sound quality. I tried this out on 2 very different ukes and the pickup worked well on both. My only comments would be that it would be easier to use if the 1/8" jack would have been the standard 1/4" which would have allowed for a heavier gauge cord to reduce some surface noise, not a deal breaker but that would be my personal preference.
