Great Metal Amp!

By Derrick Denslow

from Michigan

Great amp! It just needs a OD or tube screamer in front of it for heavy metal. Sounds amazing! Turn the sweep to about 1 for some brutal low end. I've had about 8 different top brand heads in the last year and a half and this is one of if not the best. If you know amps and know your sound you will do good with this. USA MADE!

No respect?

By David Brewington

from Twin Cities, Minnesota

I just picked up this head and the Krank Rev 412 a few months ago, and despite all the terrible reviews Ive read online, as a metal player, this amp has been awesome for me. It took me a long time to get the sound out of it that I wanted on the distortion channel, but after a few days I really found what i was looking for. And as another review stated, it has a really really nice clean channel feature with the boost, it has a really warm tube clean sound. Overall I have really liked this amp as an owner, not as some hater who messed with it for a half hour at guitar center supposedly once. You get the best sound out of it when you turn it up. The only real kicker is price. But if you can find it for a good deal under a thousand, id pull the trigger on it.

ehhhhhhhhh

By John deaos

from new york

I played this unit at my local music store and dialed it in for a half an hour and couldnt get a good solid distortion out of it. The clean channel was pretty nice though, but the krank channel as they call it, doesent really do anything for me. The distortion is a very light overdrive, with no bottom end and yes i did "krank" it up for all you krank fans who say you got to krank it up for the full potential. Overall this head is not the head for me. Everyone has their own opinions on what they like but this head doesent cut it for a rock or metal amp. This head is friggin expensive too. Couldnt see myself ever dishing out that kind of cash for such a unversatile moderate soft spoken amp. Plenty on the market of way better quality for nearly half the cost.

One trick pony

By BOB

Iۡve owned this amp for several months now and the only thing itۡs got going for it is its clean channel. Its real warm and sparkling clear. One of the best Iۡve ever heard on a high gain amp. Plus it comes with a boost feature which is a nice little add on. On the other hand the krank distortion channel is terrible. Itۡs flat and has no bottom end. Itۡs pretty much useless for me. I donۡt see what style of music you could really use this for. Itۡs supposed to be versatile and yet itۡs not at all. If you play metal stay far far far away from this head. Also an important note is that this head is made of cheap material. The transformers came to me bent which is a common issue among kranks because they have weak transformer tabs. And everything is a sticker on it!. A cheap sticker that wears away over a little time. Another big downfall is the head is wayyyyyyyyyy to overpriced. Im still beating myself up over paying this much. This was a pure impulse buy for me. I wrote this review to help people from making the same mistake I did.
