  • Small size, big tone

As reviewed by Benson on 4/8/2011

For being such a small amp in physical size, the Krank Rev Jr 50 watt amp lets out some big tone. It's easily one of the most portable tube heads on the market nowadays, which is very convenient for players who don't want to break their backs carrying amp heads in and out of gigs every night. The Krank channel is pure metal heaven, rich with gain and versatile with the 3-band EQ and the mid-sweep. The sweep is a very convenient control, giving you the ability to go from ballsy scooped crunch to a thick midrange grind at the turn of a knob. The Kleen channel unfortunately leaves a little more to be desired, with only a 2-band EQ. That's not to say it can't give a nice clean sound, just don't expect Fender Twin kind of sparkle. The Ohm selector and voltage selector are very nice for ever-changing gig locations and for keeping power issues under control in practice spaces. Imagine stepping on stage with an adorable little stack, maybe 3 feet tall, with one of these as the head, and watching how people first react at how little it is. By the end of the night, with the tone and power you're putting out of this bad boy, those first reactions will take a complete 180. Of course, it may not be for everyone, but if you like heavy distortion without the heavy weight, check into this. You'll be surprised. NOTE: If you can, get the footswitch with it as well; it's a huge help for live applications.

  • small amp big sound

As reviewed by Gary on 4/6/2011

Trust me this amp may look small but it rips and it gets loud. This is a Great amp if you don't have the space for a half stack but need to be able to keep up with a drummer at practice or club gig. It's also very flexible covering anything from classic rock plexi type tones to high gain shred, very cool amp.
