  • KRANK IT UP!!!!

As reviewed by Testament=BestMetalBandEver on 10/1/2010

So this is a great pedal, my only dislike is that it doesn't sound that great on a clean channell. if you are looking to play blues this is not your pedal... but c'mon. if your lookin at this pedal and reading this review you play metal and thats what this bad boy is meant to do. i like to Krank, pun intended, the output and gain and keep the tone at about 6 or 7. amazing tone. your notes will sustain so much longer. if your gonna buy this pedal use it for what its meant to do to drive and tighten up the gain you have from your amp or distortion pedal.

  • Great Booster Pedal

As reviewed by Jeff on 11/2/2009

All I wanted was a pedal to boost my solos, nothing too complicated. I have a Krank cab, and it's well built, so I had been eying some of their other gear. I decided to go with the Krankshaft for my boosting needs after watching a video and listening to the feedback of some of the people on Krank's forum. I'm using a Hardwire TL-2 metal distortion for my basic needs, but I keep the gain level low to get a nice punk crunch (think Bad Religion, Bouncing Souls, etc) but I needed something to add some sustain and mids to my solos, but doesn't color my overall tone too much. This thing delivers in spades. Works good as an extra EQ pedal, too. Using both pedals together not only gets me a good lead tone, but also a thick hardcore-type distortion (Comeback Kid, Pennywise), which was another sound I was seeking. I got lucky that I didn't have to try a dozen pedals to get what I wanted, but I also can't really compare it other similar pedals. All I know is that it works great for what I want. I don't really plan on using it for a light, overdriven clean sound, but I toyed around with all my EQs and had what I considered a good sound for that, too.
