The Korg RADIAS Synthesizer Vocoder brings together a sound module based on Korg's cutting-edge, analog-modeling MMT engine and a full complement of knobs and buttons. This 24-voice synth offers a variety of synthesis algorithms together with multiple effects, modulation sequencing, comb filter and wave shaping features, as well as formant-motion vocoding. The Korg RADIAS includes customizable synthesis templates to be used as starting points, with template data for 128 synth timbres, 128 insert effects, and 128 master effects.
The heart of this synthesizer vocoder beats with Korg's cutting-edge MMT (Multi Modeling Technology) synth engine, which borrows much of its modeling techniques from Korg's flagship OASYS. It eliminates aliasing noise in even the highest frequencies and delivers clean, pure waveforms. RADIAS provides two oscillators for each timbre that deliver modeled analog waveforms, formant waveforms, noise, ring modulation, sync, plus classic and modern PCM waveforms. The analog modeled waveforms allow a variety of oscillator modulation algorithms to be used to create complex sounds, even from a single oscillator. The dual-filter structure allows two filters to be used individually, side by side, or in series for maximum versatility.
Three envelope generators are used to apply time-varying changes to the pitch, filter cutoff, and amp level, as well as many other parameters. The bundled Korg RADIAS Sound Editor/Librarian software makes it easy to edit, manage, and archive settings on your computer through the USB port. RADIAS has two LFOs, variable Drive mode, a flexible wave shaping circuit, three modulation sequencers, six virtual analog synth patch cords, envelope follower, 16-band vocoder, 30 effect algorithms, six types of arpeggiator patterns, dual linkable 32-step sequencers, 256 programs, 32 drum kits, and 16 formant motion sets.

This is probably the greatest investment I have ever made. KORG is the only brand that has made synthesizer/vocoder like this. This is my first vocoder that I have owned. It will complement my old Yamaha DX7-IIFD, which works well with the Radias. As for Vocoder - I found it to be a tool to teach myself how to sing. You can not cheat the vocoder by trying to sing higher or lower than the key note that you are telling the Radias to output your voice as - it will not change. But you can cheat singing practice ( not training tone control ) via the vocoder. I wouldnt recommend it for truely devoted singers who are in training. However, the Radias in all , makes an excellent upgrade and addition to my music. I would recommend this KORG device to any keyboardist of my style.
The Korg Radias is an amazingly easy Analog Modeled Synthesizer to program especially if you understand synthesizer basics. The design of the software is excellent in just how easy it is to navigate to any of the many features this synth has. I have several synths and this is by far the easiest synth to learn, master, and program. It has many great features like Vocoder, Modulators, Arpeggiator, with great sounding Oscillators and Filters. One complaint is the PCM waves in this synth are weak and too few but most like me will probably be using this synth for the standard analog type waves it produces such as saw, square, triangle, and sine. The Unison feature yeilds incredibly fat analog sounds. It only has 24 note Polyphony but that's still very high for an analog modeling synth and if you need more just buy another Radias and stack them. I plan on buying 2 more cuz I really like this synth.
