A compact dedicated guitar and bass tuner with new circular display
The KORG GT-4 is a dedicated guitar and bass tuner that automatically detects an instrument's pitch and offers simple operation. With a large note name display in the center and red LEDs that rotate in a circular pattern, it is a revolutionary tuner with superb visibility.
It supports seven-string guitars (7B through 1E) in Guitar mode, and six-string basses (Low-B through Hi-C) in Bass mode. While compact, it instantly indicates the pitch with the high precision you expect from Korg. The built-in high-sensitivity mic supports tuning of acoustic guitars as well.

Three tuning modes: Strobe, Mirror, and Meter
The GT-4 lets you choose one of three ways in which the LED's will indicate the tuning. The triangular green tuning guides indicate whether the input is sharp or flat, and show when the instrument is tuned perfectly.

Strobe mode
The red LEDs will begin rotating when you play a note on your instrument, and will stop when your instrument is in tune. The LED's will rotate clockwise if your instrument is sharp or counterclockwise if your instrument is flat. When the tuning is correct, the two tuning guides will light simultaneously.

Mirror mode
This newly developed tuning method takes advantage of this unique type of illumination. The bright red LED indicates the pitch of your instrument; simply tune your instrument to make the bright red LED coincide with the dim red LED's. The bright red LED will move to the right of center if the input pitch is sharp, or to the left if it is flat.

Meter mode
Tune your instrument so that the bright red LED is aligned with the green tuning guide in the center as on a conventional needle type tuner.

Quinta-flat tuning mode
Useful for dropped tunings, Quinta-flat tuning mode lets you calibrate the GT-4 from one to five semitones below standard pitch.

Designed for easy operation

The Korg GT-4 is designed for effortless operation with switches conveniently located when held in the palm of your hand.
In Strobe mode, if approximately thirty seconds have elapsed without any audio input, the rotating red LED's will go dark. If approximately ten minutes have elapsed with no audio input while powered-on, the GT-4 will automatically turn off to prevent unnecessary battery consumption.

Great little gig bag tuner

By Chuck Magnus

from Bronx, New York

Comments about Korg GT-4 Guitar/Bass Compact Strobe Tuner:

This tuner has to be the smallest, lightest and most perfect tuner I have used in the past 20 years and that's saying alot. I've owned or used almost every brand out there, Boss, Fender, Danelectro even, but this one is a keeper. It's the smallest and lightest tuner I have owned, even lighter than some of those rectangular little LCD tuners they sell. I play blues, usually in dark crowded and noisy bars and clubs and the brightness and ease of use of this tuner takes the cake. It has a large well lit display and you can choose between three , strobe-like modes. I also travel to most of these venues by subway so I try to minimize the amount of "stuff" I cram into my gig bag; cables, overdrive pedal, extra strings, so an extremely lightweight tuner for an old guy like me is great. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't turn off when you unplug it, otherwise I'd give it 5 stars!

Quality Tuner

By Matt

from Cassopolis, MI

Comments about Korg GT-4 Guitar/Bass Compact Strobe Tuner:

This is a pretty good tuner, especially at a good price. Pros: Everything is lit up which is really convenient for gigs so you can see when you need to tune Cons: For drop tuning you need to use flat buttons instead of just tuning to the note you want.

Korg tuner not so great

By nancy

from ann arbor, mi

Comments about Korg GT-4 Guitar/Bass Compact Strobe Tuner:

The tuner is affordable, but it's all over the place. Without making any adjustments, the tuner will register that the string is extremely sharp and then very flat. I don't recommend this product, as it doesn't perform well. It's not worth the $$$.

Not up to my KORG expectations.

By Wes Shaw

from Omaha, NE

Comments about Korg GT-4 Guitar/Bass Compact Strobe Tuner:

I now own this KORG GT-4 along with a KORG CA-30 (chromatic), KORG GA-1 (guitar/bass), Peterson VS-1 (strobe tuner), Epiphone tuner, a tuner on my Fender Mustang II, a tuner in my Digitech RP-70 and a drawer full of tuning forks. I like strobe tuners except for this one. Pros: beautiful, easy to read display. Cons: response is slow, sensitivity (mic) is low, accuracy is haphazard (sometimes spot on, sometimes locks on to harmonic). Big problem: it displays last sample long after you have already tried to update your tuning. so you can't tune while the display is updating. :( you have to pluck, wait for display to show results, make tuning change, wait for display to decay, repeat. VERY SLOW operation. I DO NOT recommend this tuner for anyone. Beginners through Pros will hate this thing. But the displays are beautiful. It has 3 tuning modes, strobe-like (synthesizes a strobe), Mirror, and plain pointer. I'm keeping it for its novelty value, it's not a practical tool for the money. I'd recommend finding either the KORG CA-30 first and the GA-1 if you can't find the chromatic. I only have two thumbs or I'd give this 3 thumbs down. :(
