Overview

The Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner is a high-precision LCD needle-type meter. Unique Korg feature lets you tune down to 5 semitones flat. Internal speaker produces tuning reference tone. High-sensitivity internal mic for tuning acoustic guitars. Auto power off and low power draw for very long battery life.

An Easy-to-Use Dedicated Guitar and Bass Tuner
This dedicated guitar/bass tuner lets you select either Guitar mode or Bass mode for truly easy operation with automatically detected pitch. The wide detection range supports 7-string guitar (7B through 1E) in Guitar mode, and 6-string bass (Low-B, Hi-C) in Bass mode. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic guitars.

Ultra-compact Body with a "Tilt Slit"
Although the GA-30 is small, thin, and light, don't let its pocket-sized body fool you. The GA-30 can accurately tune any guitar or bass. From studio to stage, tuning is easy and convenient. The back of the unit includes a unique arc-shaped "tilt slit" that lets you insert a plastic card for use as a handy stand.

High-Precision LCD Meter
The meter section uses a LCD needle, combining the accuracy of an LCD with the easy visibility of a needle, and providing a stable display. Additional visual feedback is provided by LEDs that indicate pitch deviation.

Sound Out -- Internal Speaker Provides a Reference Pitch
In addition to visual tuning via meter, the GA-30 can play reference pitches from its internal speaker (Sound Out) for tuning by ear. Each press of the Sound switch will cycle the output sound through 7B->6E->5A->4D->3G->2B->1E in Guitar mode, or LB->4E->3A->2D->1G->HC in Bass mode.

Quinta Flat Tuning mode -- a world-wide first!
The GA-30's Quinta Flat Tuning mode supports the lowered tunings used in heavy metal styles to give more weight to the sound. Until now, dedicated guitar tuners have supported a maximum of only four semitones below standard pitch, but the GA-30 gives you five steps of flatted tuning, extending as far as five semitones below standard pitch, and supporting even super-long scale guitars that are five frets longer than conventional guitars.

Auto Power Off Function
If you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the Auto Power Off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.

Approximately 100 hours of continuous use
Low-power consumption design allows an amazing 100 hours (approximate) of continuous battery life (A4 continuous input, Meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries).

* Even if the pitch is within the detection range, detection may not be possible for instrumental sounds that contain a large number of overtones or have a rapid decay.

Korg tuners and metronomes purchased from a Korg USA authorized dealer now have a three year warranty.

This thing works, and it works pretty well if you know what you're doing with a tuner. It's getting low-quality marks from me because, after it fell ONE TIME from a height of about six inches (not an exaggeration), I now have to remove the back cover and hold the batteries in for it to function. Still, though, for what it costs, you can't expect an indestructible device. I might very well buy another one (and try to handle it like eggs).

Great Tuner

By Josh

from Anoka, MN

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

This is a really good tuner. I've tuned my bass and my friend's guitar with it and it works great. When you're tuning through the input jack it doesn't take any sound through the mic, so you could tune while someone is playing guitar right next to you. It's strong too. I've dropped it a bunch of times and it hasn't boken yet.

Easy to use and cheap

By Kevin

from Loomis, CA

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

Use it for both bass and guitar. Works like a charm. The battery lasts forever! The red and green lights that indicate if you are out of tune or coming in to tune make thingas even easier especially if you are not in great lighting. Have never had any problems with it whatsoever. One time i thought it was malfunctioning but I was a dummy and forgot to turn my Guitars volume up.

It tunes...

By Demonmonkeee

from California

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

This tuner gets the job done for a mere $15. I's Incredibly user friendly and easy to use. I reccomend it for anyone, but I don't have too much experience with tuners. The only other tuner I've ever had was low quality and fell apart, but this one is infinitely better. I've had it for 3 years (full of wear and tear) and its still working fine. A good piece of equipment to say the least.

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

This thing is great. It doesn't suck out all of the battery life and tunes your guitar perfectly. It is also very sleek compared to the older ones. Highly recommended.

best of the pack

By SantanaRocks

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

I got this tuner three years ago with a cheap guitar that I purchased. The guitar has long been dead and the tuner is still going. I have used it for accoustic and for electric and works well in both counts. Good job, Korg!

Basic Guitar Tuner

By Baxter

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

I own this tuner (Korg GA-30) and the chromatic CA-30 tuners. I keep this one with my guitar amp because it is lightweight and it is foolproof. The LCD display is not backlit and this is a problem in dimly lit places, though there are indicator LEDs that mitigate this problem. It has been durable but the construction is a notch below the GT-3, which I used to own as well.

Great Value!

By Anonymous

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

This is an awesome tuner. I bought this when I started bass about a year ago, and it has served me and my band very well. This tuner not only tunes my bass well, but can do my other bandmates' guitars. On top of that, it can tune acoustic guitars just as well as electric with the built in microphone. It is quick and easy, and very small and light. If you need a great tuner, look no further!

Pro tuner-JACK BLACK

By Stratman421

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

Ive owned this tuner for a few years, and hasn't failed me since. its a great tuner because it gives you a sample of what the actual string is supposed to sound like. Also, if you watch school of rock, jack black uses this tuner right before he sings his "material".

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

I've got this tuner for about two Years and really great. It gives the exact sound of the strings. It doesn?t waste batteries at all, I have the same ones since a bought it and its working perfectly. It has taken some seriously nasty falls and it?s like nothing never happened, that proves its Durability. It?s a product 100% worth it, no regrets.

Very upset

By Christina

from New York

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

When I bought this it worked beautifully, the first use. Then the second time I used it, it tuned my guitar in the wrong way. It thought I was playing the forth string when I was playing the fifth string.

Very Good

By GuitarMan

from Madison, Alabama

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

I got this tuner shortly after I got my first guitar (a J. Turser Strat). It has worked amazingly well, considering its price. It also is able to tune bass guitars, which is great, because I'm thinking of playing bass. You can also make it tune 1/2 a step down or in drop d. This is probably the best tuner you can get for its price.

Good for...well maybe not...tuning

By Alan

from Deer River, MN

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

I got this tuner from a local music store and decided to look it up to see what people thought. I was surpsrised with the 5 star average rating. The tuner has a hard time picking up sounds, it sometimes tunes it completely wrong, and switching semitones doesn't work all the time. I wouldn't recommend this product unless you need something cheap.

Tunes as well as any

By vanhalen144

from Tennessee

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

This tuner is the cheapest tuner I've ever seen. It is my second tuner and the only one I use. I've had for almost year and have never had to change the batteries. It's hardy too. I've dropped it countless times, but it works like the day I got it. Sometimes the bigger the price isn't better, especially compared to this tuner.

Cheap but great tuner

By BassMasta63

from Tarzana, California

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

This is a great tuner! I have used it for a couple of months and still doesn't need new battries. It is great that it has sounds so you also know if your guitar/bass is tuned. I also love how it tunes bass and guitar. My brother has a guitar and it is very convient for both of us because we don't have to buy another one. Another great quality is that it is very cheap. I was going to buy another tuner but then the person showed me this tuner. I was amazed how cheap and good it was. Overall this is a great tuner and I highly reccomend this tuner.

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

Ive had this tuner for a while, and it is a tuner that will actually get the job done. I like the fact that it plays the notes your trying to tune to. It can tune without being plugged in to as long as your not in a noisy room because it picks ups some voices. Great tuner!

I like these so much I have three of them

By Songwriter99

from Fresno, CA

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

I like this tuner so much I have three of them. I keep them one in each of my main guitar cases and one in my practice room. I've been playing 25 years and I still can't tune by ear that well, and why should I worry about it when I can use one of these for less than $15. I've had all of mine for more than two years and they've never not worked and never needed new batteries (the automatic shutoff feature is essential). Plugged in they work great, or with the built-in mic. And I use them on my bass as well, and they work great.

The best tuner

By Guitarman48

from Arvada, CO

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

The Korg GA-30 is the best tuner I have ever used. Not only does it make tuning easy, it is cheap and affordible. I love it so much that I own three and give them as gifts to my friends who are beging to play guitar. It tunes any type guitar and has a setting that can help you learn the pitches so you can tune by ear. It always gets my guitars on tune the first time.

Automatic Shutoff = Essential

By Free Hat

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

The Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner is very portable, so it won't take much space from your gig bag/guitar case. It is very accurate, and will actually prevent you from wasting battery power, via its automatic shutoff feature.

good bang for the buck

By briguy29

from Lowell, IN

Comments about Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner:

The Korg GA-30 is a pretty basic tuner, but gets the job done. It certainly doesn't have the features or accuracy of more expensive units, but it won't cost a small fortune, either. I generally use this for tuning up my squier telecaster, and it works for what I want to do--play in tune at home. I don't play out very often, so I don't need accuracy within a fraction of a cent. I do have a couple of complaints. First, I've owned three of these because they don't like to be dropped. The first one had a big fall (outside balcony to asphalt) and was more or less pulverized. The second was a drop onto a tile floor from my music stand (maybe 4 feet). This one still more or less worked OK, but the plastic case was pretty well done in. Batteries kept falling out while I was using it, so I bought the one I have now. Also, it can be annoying trying to use this with an acoustic guitar. If I had three arms and could hold it in a good spot for the mic to pick up maybe it would be better, but I can't. Even though this unit has its shortcomings, it's still a great value for the money. As I said, I've owned three of these, so at least Korg has kept me coming back for more.
