Overview

The Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner is a high-precision LCD needle-type meter. Unique Korg feature lets you tune down to 5 semitones flat. Internal speaker produces tuning reference tone. High-sensitivity internal mic for tuning acoustic guitars. Auto power off and low power draw for very long battery life.

An Easy-to-Use Dedicated Guitar and Bass Tuner
This dedicated guitar/bass tuner lets you select either Guitar mode or Bass mode for truly easy operation with automatically detected pitch. The wide detection range supports 7-string guitar (7B through 1E) in Guitar mode, and 6-string bass (Low-B, Hi-C) in Bass mode. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic guitars.

Ultra-compact Body with a "Tilt Slit"
Although the GA-30 is small, thin, and light, don't let its pocket-sized body fool you. The GA-30 can accurately tune any guitar or bass. From studio to stage, tuning is easy and convenient. The back of the unit includes a unique arc-shaped "tilt slit" that lets you insert a plastic card for use as a handy stand.

High-Precision LCD Meter
The meter section uses a LCD needle, combining the accuracy of an LCD with the easy visibility of a needle, and providing a stable display. Additional visual feedback is provided by LEDs that indicate pitch deviation.

Sound Out -- Internal Speaker Provides a Reference Pitch
In addition to visual tuning via meter, the GA-30 can play reference pitches from its internal speaker (Sound Out) for tuning by ear. Each press of the Sound switch will cycle the output sound through 7B->6E->5A->4D->3G->2B->1E in Guitar mode, or LB->4E->3A->2D->1G->HC in Bass mode.

Quinta Flat Tuning mode -- a world-wide first!
The GA-30's Quinta Flat Tuning mode supports the lowered tunings used in heavy metal styles to give more weight to the sound. Until now, dedicated guitar tuners have supported a maximum of only four semitones below standard pitch, but the GA-30 gives you five steps of flatted tuning, extending as far as five semitones below standard pitch, and supporting even super-long scale guitars that are five frets longer than conventional guitars.

Auto Power Off Function
If you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the Auto Power Off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.

Approximately 100 hours of continuous use
Low-power consumption design allows an amazing 100 hours (approximate) of continuous battery life (A4 continuous input, Meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries).

* Even if the pitch is within the detection range, detection may not be possible for instrumental sounds that contain a large number of overtones or have a rapid decay.

This thing works, and it works pretty well if you know what you're doing with a tuner. It's getting low-quality marks from me because, after it fell ONE TIME from a height of about six inches (not an exaggeration), I now have to remove the back cover and hold the batteries in for it to function. Still, though, for what it costs, you can't expect an indestructible device. I might very well buy another one (and try to handle it like eggs).

Good for...well maybe not...tuning

By Alan

from Deer River, MN

I got this tuner from a local music store and decided to look it up to see what people thought. I was surpsrised with the 5 star average rating. The tuner has a hard time picking up sounds, it sometimes tunes it completely wrong, and switching semitones doesn't work all the time. I wouldn't recommend this product unless you need something cheap.

Very Good

By GuitarMan

from Madison, Alabama

I got this tuner shortly after I got my first guitar (a J. Turser Strat). It has worked amazingly well, considering its price. It also is able to tune bass guitars, which is great, because I'm thinking of playing bass. You can also make it tune 1/2 a step down or in drop d. This is probably the best tuner you can get for its price.

GREAT TUNER, GREAT PRICE!!!

By Moni S.

from Charleston, SC

It really isn't necessary to spend a lot of money on a tuner. I'm a beginner and I figured this out right out of the box! Just play the string, and the tuner lets you know what note you're hitting. The LCD needle is perfect, it moves with your note... so if you're just slightly sharp or flat, you see it plainly. You can use the "sound" option to hear what your note should sound like (which was VERY helpful for a beginner). I love this item! It's kinda awkward to try to hold it and play the note at the same time, but if you sit the tuner right next to you or in front of you, the powerful mic picks up your note easily.

Very Easy To Use

By Philip

from Frisco, Texas

I am a piano/synth player and have never ever tried to tune a guitar before. This year, I bought a new guitar for my son for Christmas. I wanted to have it tuned and ready to play on Christmas morning. From the time I put the two AAA batteries in the GA-30 to the time I had a fully tuned and ready to play guitar was less than 10 minutes. It was so easy to use with the digital read-out and flat/sharp indicator LEDs. Obviously it helps that I already have musical training/experience, but for my first time tuning a guitar, I couldn't have been more pleased. For the price, you can't beat the GA-30!

It was great.

By John Gonzalez

This tuner was really good. Doesn't take long to tune either. All the great qualities that come with it helps out a lot. The only problem I found with it is it looks like it can break easily.

Awesome tuner. It helps so much! I don't use this tuner as much any more because I tune it the old fashioned way. BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

the best tuner definately for the price

By picktownfball76

this is one of the best tuners you can find on the market especialy for the price. I love the way it works, especially how accurate it is. you can tune by sound (the sound feature) or you can do it normally. this can also tune you for flats. great thing. the only downside is the you have to open up the whole thing to put the batteries in... giving it potential to get water or any other damage real easy. other than that, i recomend it highly.

Very upset

By Christina

from New York

When I bought this it worked beautifully, the first use. Then the second time I used it, it tuned my guitar in the wrong way. It thought I was playing the forth string when I was playing the fifth string.
