This is my first tuner I have ever used and I had No issues what so ever getting a perfect tune on my guitar within minutes of opening the box. It can be tuned by plugging the tuner to your guitar it also has a mic to tune your guitar to if you are not plugged in. Only issue is the screen is impossible to see with any shadow over it though the top has 3 led lights that you can use to tune just tune till the top led is green. Best of all anyone worried about the durability of this product you can register the product with KORG for a 3-year Warranty. Very satisfied

The jury is still out for me on this Korg. Maybe my Martin D-35's harmonics are making it difficult for the tuner to grasp, but the needle bounces around quite a bit and seems to have trouble deciding whether the string is in tune or not. At this point I may have to use it only to tune my big E string, and then tune the other five by ear. So...like I mentioned, the jury is still out. I also purchased my first set of Martin Phosphor Bronze strings, and they definitely have not settled down yet--still going out of tune pretty easily. Soooo...I hesitate to blame everything on the tuner, BUT I still posit that it may not be able to handle the dreadnought type guitar harmonics. Maybe others can shed light on this.

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

At first, the needle was all over the place. But, as I got familiar with the guitar tuner AND LEARNED HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY, it was great. When you pluck a string, make sure that the proper note is being displayed. For instance, 6E, 5A, 4D etc. for 6th string E, 5th string A, 4th string D etc.
If the guitar is WAY out of tune then the needle goes crazy until it gets to the proper pitch. Probably because it is reading harmonics and things.

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

I wanted a good tuner for an electric guitar. I noticed they the same tuner in stock as my dads, the Korg GA-1. I knew his worked great and has lasted years so why not. it's worked great as expected and always gets the guitar in tune. the only complaint is sometimes it will not pick up the sound of the thickest E string but with some movement of the tuning knob it eventually picks it up so not really a big deal. if you just bought a guitar with case' even if you have a more expensive tuner it's worth getting one as a back up to keep in the case for initial an tune up.

Works good but... is not chromatic, and won't help unless you always use standard EADGBE tuned strings.

        Didn't care for it

        By Gerald Day

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

Screen is tough to see at certain angles, hard to adjust angles because my picks don't work in the snassy slot that's suppose to hold it up. Wouldn't care for it if it was easy to prop up. Waste of money glad I bought another brand.

        No Fuss No Muss

        By George Thompson

        from Lexington Park, Maryland

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

Being from the old school of music, I remember the only way to tune a guitar was to play various notes and cords or use an old fashioned pitch pipe which wasn't always accurate. Then came along tuning by way of the computer again, it had its drawbacks. This product beats both previous methods by leaps and bounds. I would highly recommend it as both a beginners tool and to be used by those who have been playing for seversl years like myself. Great device for both electric and acoustic guitars. If you can't tune your guitar with this device, you should pick up a new interest.

        Handy Tuner For My Bass

        By Stephen Buntrock

        from Buchanan Dam, TX

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

Pro -This is a handy, inexpensive little tuner that fits in a case or pocket, is easy to use on either electric or acoustic instruments and works great for 6-string, 12-string or bass guitars. Con - The little slot on the back to insert a pick for a "stand" doesn't work w/ my Fender medium and thin picks. The audio tuner tones are an octave above a guitar and two octaves above a bass note. I don't use either feature so I don't care. It doesn't have all the fancy options of more expensive tuners and I wish it had banjo and mandolin settings but I have another tuner that tunes everything but bass so this will be the one I toss in my electric bass case. It's perfect for my needs as a plug-in bass tuner.

        Bad Tuning

        By Yerenny Calvo

        from NY,NY

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

I bought this tuner a while ago at a low price, It's my first tuner. I began to use it and thought at first that it might be my guitar that was wrong but it's not the case, every time I use it to try and tune my guitar it's horrible, it will tune my guitar wrong as well. This tuner is just a pain in the butt, please do not waste your time with it, you'll just get annoyed and probably try to throw it in front of a bus.

        Garbage

        By Maxx Higgins

        from Stonington, Connecticut

Comments about Korg GA-1 Guitar and Bass Tuner:

I bought this tuner because I wanted to get the cheapest one with the best reviews and all the tuners that received 5 stars were out of stock. When it came in the mail, I tried using it to tune my electric bass. This failed because my input wire was broken so I tried tuning my upright bass to it. On the E string, this tuner would just not do anything, it wouldn't pick up the note. I moved onto the other strings where I would play the note and it'd tell me I was sharp, and then i'd sharpen the note and it'd tell me it was flat. I saw another review where someone said it wouldn't tune their acoustic guitar, which makes me wonder if it's only acoustic instruments, but I don't see why it would work like that. Either way, this tuner made me decide to start tuning exclusively by ear, so I got something from this tuner, even if it was an indirect result.
