Overview

The Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner gives you a high-precision LCD needle-type meter. Wide range of pitch detection covers C1-C8. Calibration function lets you specify concert pitch. Built-in high-sensitivity mic. Produces reference tone on internal speaker and has marks for pure major thirds and minor thirds. . Auto power off. Low draw gets up to 100 hours of battery life in continuous use.

Wide Range of Pitch Detection

This compact chromatic tuner supports a broad range of C1 (32.70 Hz)--C8 (4186.01 Hz), allowing speedy and high-precision tuning of wind, string, keyboard, and other instruments. This tuner is ideal for tuning even low-register notes containing numerous overtones that are often difficult to tune. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic instruments such as ukuleles. A separately sold CM-100 contact mic can also be used to send the vibrations directly to the tuner for even more accurate tuning.

Ultra-compact body with a "Tilt Slit"

Although the CA-30 is small, thin, and light, don't let its pocket-sized body fool you. The CA-30 packs the functionality needed for tuning a wide range of instruments. From studio to stage, tuning is easy and convenient. The back of the unit includes a unique arc-shaped "tilt slit" that lets you insert a plastic card for use as a handy stand.

High-precision LCD Meter

The meter section uses a LCD needle, combining the accuracy of an LCD with the easy visibility of a needle, and providing a stable display. Additional visual feedback is provided by LEDs that indicate pitch deviation.

Sound Out -- Internal Speaker Provides a Reference Pitch

In addition to visual tuning via meter, the CA-30 can play reference pitches from its internal speaker (Sound Out) for tuning by ear. Each press of the Sound switch will cycle through the A4--Bb4 notes commonly used for tuning wind instruments. Or you can hold down the Sound switch to change the cycle to the semitone intervals from C4 through C5 (one octave), allowing reference pitches for any instrument to be sounded quickly.

Calibration Function

The Calibration function (410--480 Hz) supports a wide range of standard pitches, and can be adjusted in 1 Hz steps for accurate and flexible tuning to any song or key. Thanks to the Memory Backup function, the Calibration and reference pitch are remembered even when the power is turned off. (However, these settings will be initialized when the batteries are replaced.)

Auto Power Off Function

If you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the Auto Power Off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.

Approximately 100 hours of Continuous Use

Low-power consumption design allows an amazing 100 hours (approximate) of continuous battery life (A4 continuous input, Meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries).

This Korg chromatic tuner is a fine example of how a good quality company continues to make very good quality products. This tuner is able to fine tune a guitar directly through the input jack or another instrument through the external microphone. It is powered by triple A batteries. I have been using this tuner for two years and have never had to replace the batteries. It can be easily calibrated and has a very easy to read digital screen. The tuner will display if the guitar is sharp or flat and to what degree it is. There are led lights to indicate if it is not in tune. If it is close it will show a green light. This is a great tuner that has everything a guitar player could need.

Great Value, Questionable Quality.

I've owned 2 of these tuners and both stopped working about a week after I purchased them. If you need a reliable tuner, look elsewhere.

A good tuner

By Supersmartguy8

Comments about Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner:

I thought the Korg CA-30 was a great tuner for the price. It met all of my demands for tuning my guitar, the frequency can easily be calibrated, and it is very simple to use. A top choice of mine that I've been using for years.

Good value

By ux4484

from Chicago, Il

Comments about Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner:

I really like this tuner, it's very accurate and good for alternate tunings. Operation is universal to understand. For $20 you really shouldn't complain, but I will: An output jack would make this the best tuning value anywhere, but you'll have to pay 5 bucks more to Korg to get this same tuner with one (CA-40). The display refresh is a tad slow for my liking (in this digital age, we should be able to aproximate an analog needle better than this). For the 5 bucks more you pay for the CA-40, you don't even get a faster display.

Nice tuner for the money

By Baxter

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner:

The chromatic function makes this tuner great for singing. It's lightweight and portable and the battery life is good. It has been reasonably durable but the meter is not backlit and so it can be difficult to read from many angles. The LEDs make up for this deficiency, somewhat.

size doesn't matter

By Douglas

from Troy, IL

Comments about Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner:

I recently purchased my first guitar and knew I would need a tuner. I couldn't have picked a better choice. It was my first time tuning any guitar and this little guy did all the work. I strum the string and it displays which note is being played. Sometimes the string is so far out of tune that it is closer to a different note, but after a small adjustment, the tuner automatically finds the proper note. When I took my guitar to a friend, he compared it to his tuner that cost at least $100 bucks. I had tuned it dead on! It even does a great good tuning my sister's acoustic. The biggest advantage to the Korg CA-30 is the size. You can pack it anywhere, I do mean anywhere. The only disadvantage to the tuner is the digital needle. It tends to waver a bit. Give the string a few extra strums to check your work, even when the tuner says it's fine.

A Must Have!

By Scott

from Oregon

Comments about Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner:

I've had one of these for years it will tune a guitar or bass spot on and any friends that used it like it better than their more expensive and digital tuners. I get a lot of complements when someone uses it I may have changed the batteries once maybe twice. Also at my local Guitar Center it's the same one used by the employees to tune an instrument for you! I got mine by just picking it out but after using it I say get this tuner if you need one>
