Comments about Korg ARP ODYSSEY REV2 Exclusive:

It was nice to see the Arp back but very disappointed in the tinker toy short key bed . Korg should have kept it original with the standard key bed you don't cut corners in a vintage synth to save money stupid decision!!!!!!!

Comments about Korg ARP ODYSSEY REV2 Exclusive:

Amazing instrument for crafting sounds. If you're not familiar with synthesis it can take a little while to get the hang of it but it's nothing too crazy to learn. I'd prefer the keys to be a little bigger but it's not terrible. The low end and lead sounds you can sculpt on the Odyssey are incredible.

So close, only to fall short.

Comments about Korg ARP ODYSSEY REV2 Exclusive:

I can remember back to 1978, wanting one of these, but at around $1200.00, there was no way a minimum wage teenager like me was going to afford one. Flash forward almost 40 years, and here they are for about $800.00. I am finally going to own my dream.
Now for the review.
Here's what Korg did right.
1) shipping case.
2) instrument housing protects key ends.
3) choice of color style.
4) Filter types. The "gurus" will tell you that number two is the best, but I think number one shines.
5) build quality,
6) sound.
This synth is a beast and is highly recommended.
Here's what Korg did wrong.
1) mini keys. I'm sorry. No one seems to be happy with these. they are playable, but here's the best description of "mini" to me. Try to play an octave while blindfolded, you will play a ninth.
2) MIDI input does not control pitch bend or modulation.
I understand that Korg is now introducing a tabletop version of this synth. What they should have done is issue a standard key version of the Odyssey, then issue a tabletop, MIDI control version of the 2600.
I would give this a five star review, if not for the key size.
Oh for Korg to have come so close, but fall short. I don't understand their thinking.

Comments about Korg ARP ODYSSEY REV2 Exclusive:

The small keys are the reason that I did not purchase the new Odyssey when it first came out. They did not feel right on my big fat hands. Truth be told, I got used to the smaller keys over a weekend. A great classic synth, this looks, feels and sounds like my old original except for the size. The only reason I did not give my new Odyssey a 5 star rating is because of the small keys. While it will never replace the Minimoog, the Odyssey has more synth functions than the Mini and it is better at making aggressive, complex sounds. It is a great synth to learn about synthesis functions. The Mini will always be more musical to me, but having BOTH is pretty cool! If you purchase one and plan to plug it into a mixer, make sure that you have an XLR Cable available, as the low input jack is VERY LOW input and the only way that you can use the High input jack is with an XLR cable. It would be a pity to take your new Odyssey home, pull it out of the case and then not be able to crank it up because you don't have the proper cable.

It is very nice to be reacquainted with my old friend. I have missed it for years......

Comments about Korg ARP ODYSSEY REV2 Exclusive:

Korg did an excellent job recreating an iconic synth! Sounds nearly identical to the original in a smaller package. Loved that they included a custom case for the unit as well, along with a great little booklet from the original synth with patch ideas as well as handy notes! Would recommend for anyone looking for a analog synth with great tones!

Comments about Korg ARP ODYSSEY REV2 Exclusive:

A very faithful recreation of the original ARP Odyssey! Playing chords up to a 12th interval is possible on the slim keys, which is great! It also has a MIDI In just in case you want to use a standard size keyboard via a MIDI controller! The slim keys are not an issue. The HEART of the synth is what matters, and this delivers everything the original had, including all three filters from the Rev1, Rev2, and Rev3!
