A Comprehensive Music Production System
The TR's 16-track sequencer provides a capacity of 200,000 notes and up to 200 songs, creating a comprehensive music production system offering superb functionality and excellent operability. You can record in realtime or step time, and a host of powerful editing tools are provided.
Setting up for a new song is easy. Choose a template song (16 preset, 16 user) that has sounds and effects already set up; or use the Auto Song Setup feature to instantly set up the Program or Combination you are currently playing into a new record-ready song, complete with all effect and arpeggiator settings. Either way, you can begin recording immediately, before you lose that flash of musical inspiration.
The Cue List allows you to build your arrangement up in sections (up to 99), and then convert them into a single song for consecutive playback or to create new song structures. You can build songs using 150 preset drum patterns and 100 user patterns, as well as take advantage of the Track Loop function to loop specified regions of measures within each track.
Song data can also be saved on an SD card in SMF (Standard MIDI File) format 0 or 1, letting you exchange data with most MIDI sequencers. Share your ideas with other musicians who are computer-users, or move your songs into your computer for further editing, notation, or integration with other applications. Once again, Song data can be loaded from the TRITON and Karma line of music workstations*, for compatibility with tens of thousand of users around the world.

Diverse and Priced Well
Extremely well rounded and diverse for its price. Bought it along with a Roland KC 120Watt amplifier which I run it through and it sounds great. Does everything I need it to do and can even go as far as to create and edit combi sounds.
Seq works well and is incredibly useful for composing more complex rythems. Has tons of different features for tweaking sounds, arranging them and creating them as well as saving data to an SD card slot.
Whole bunch of useful gadgets on the TR and its no doubt a great buy but of course it isn't the best workstation out there so if your willing to pay the extra for a TRITON Extreme or M3 workstation than go ahead, but if your budgets somewhat limited and your looking for a workstation that can do just about anything and still sound great than this is the one.

As my first workstation...
I must say it is quite a beast! I'll begin with hardware itself. It is a sturdy steel and plastic casing with a beautiful screen, the knobs feel great and it is all laid out perfectly, and LED's are nice too. As for the sounds, the pianos, drums, synths, and special effects are all very good. The strings are decent, but can sound fairly convincing when layered. The one area in their sound banks I think they failed in was the guitars, most of them sound very flat and plain, even with all the extra EQ and effects they throw on them. You can use the korg's different sounds to create your own patches, though it is a bit unintuitive, you can shape sounds just like you would a synthesizer. It has a filter and all for you to shape your own sounds, but this is hidden in menus so you gotta kinda find your way to it. I love the sequencer, it's a breeze and the step sequencer is intuitive. The few downsides I felt the TR-61 had was the lack of the EXB-SMPL card, come on Korg! I just spend $1000 a thousand dollars on the thing, why should I have spend another $200 more just simply to have audio inputs and the ability to sample! On top of that you would need to buy more memory due to the lack of RAM it comes with (16mb if i'm not mistaken)! My biggest issue was the fact that I could only use one insert effect per track which limits me severely while doing all my work on the TR, but i'm not TOO pressed because I can always import to my DAW and add effects there, or just bounce the tracks into my DAW, but I realize that not everyone has a DAW, and one effect per track can be severely limiting in most cases. Overall though I was very impressed with it, I wouldn't part with it, that's for sure! The sequencer is strong, this thing has more sounds than you'll ever need, and most of the sounds are very good! Not to mention that if do get bored with the patches, you can always make your own. The effects on this thing too, they sound incredible. The compresser is quite simple, but yet very effective! You wouldn't believe how punchy it makes the drums! If you are looking for a whole package with a cheap price tag, then this is most surely the workstation for you! However, if you're looking for something that has it all, i'd look at the TR-61's bigger brothers, most of the bad things about this are due to the fact that this is a budget workstation, so you shouldn't expect to get everything with it, but under $1000, this one reigns supreme!

Amazing Workstation, Unbelievable Price!
I bought my Korg TR 61 at the guitar center located in Villa Park Illinois and let me start out by saying, "WOW!" The 16 track sequencer is amazing and with over 600 sounds, I can record almost any style of music I want. The Pianos & Organs sound very nice. I use the TR with my Korg T3 and with these two synths, I can cover almost any variety of sound I want. I use both to play at gigs with my band. The Korg TR is amazing for its low price.

Pretty darn good for the Price!
I'm a songwriter for a Indie/pop band in Orange Beach. As well as a songwriter for R&B artist such as Bobby Jones and Jay Mathis. I bought the TR61 about 6 months ago. I wanted something with a little more power than my virtual instruments gave me. I have to say that it is extremely user friendly and the dual arpegiators are nice too. Lets put it this way, I do rock, Pop, R&B, and Indie, and this keybord is capable of covering all of my Genres! It's also extremely portable and easy to get started even if your not an amazing keyboardist. You'll be making phat sounds right off the Bat! So as a songwriter and a performer... I highly recommend this product. By the way if the TR61 is a little out of your budget, Check out the Korg X-50, same capabilities but a little lower in price. Enjoy!

Banging the blocks
This board is up there with Motif and RolandX you must first learn the LFO and OSC to tweak the sounds. I have hit the keys as hard as I can and still good as new. Its no Karma but it can do things a Karma cant. If you take a COMBI change and change the programs and use the LFO you will have a hit that just might be heard in the clubs in your area. Each week I find new ways to change the sounds to the max.If your new please test out everykeyboard before buying, find what matches your style of music. I have a few and the KorgTR61cando things the others cant. Each keyboard is very different find a killer match or find just one to meet your needs.I have
