Nice little controller.... issues with Ableton

So over all this is a great little controller, especially for the price. The drivers installed just fine without any issues, it works without having to install any drivers under vista. Got this working just fine with XP, Vista, Vista X64. Having four scenes is a big advantage.. for those of you who don't know what that means: With a press of a button you can switch between four COMPLETELY different layouts (where every knob and slider's functions change) so really it's like having four of these controllers side by side. The editor was a bit fishy and a bit poorly designed but because it's really something that is rarely used, it's not that big of a deal... Here's the biggy: I still cannot get it to work with ableton live properly.... particularly the transport section (play stop forward back record and loop)..... Straight out of the box without trying to tweak anything the buttons trigger the command TWICE! Once upon the press of the button, and once from the release..... After some tweaking around in the editor the best I could come up with is getting the to trigger once BUT ONLY on the release..... so if you're playing a live set and you want to stop it to get fx trail and then play again in one fluid motion, it's very challenging because there's a small delay.... I don't think I'm missing anything... I'm very experienced in midi and tried everything I could think of...

Worth Every Penny

Small and compact... yet built solid and sturdy. This thing is a ultra portable solution to midi controlling. Korg could get away with charching more.. but im glad they didnt. Ide recommend buying all three controllers in this series. They are plug and play and the software to setup the controllers is easily downloaded off the korg site.... all the latest musical softwares pick it up (ableton, torq, FL Studio, Traktor.. etc) With the 4 seperate scenes, you get a huge multitude of midi control packed in this thing. GET ITTT!

controller is solid, setup a little complicated

the transport on this controller is excellent. I didn't have any problems getting it to work with ABLive, however by default the scenes map differently than I expected. Not a big deal, but be prepared to take a bit more time to configure this and get it working than other controllers in the nano series. Once mapped, it really hums, the scene controls let you fine tune filter and patch blocks in ABLive and then quickly switch to mastering volume and pan on your tracks. Very nice, and as always, very small! If you need to take your setup with you, or have limited space, this is a really good idea. The one thing I'd like to see is Korg come out with short cables or some kind of daisy chain, so that you could lay all 3 nanos out without a lot of cable fuss. The nanoHUB lets you plug all these in at once.
