Overview

TonePros Kluson KR3 guitar tuning machines apply the tuner improvement technology of the 33 Series to the vintage 3 on a rail format. Typically you'll find this type of tuner on older '50s classic instruments such as Juniors or Specials. R3 series tuners utilize the classic white round plastic button. For years, many have sung the praises of having the row of 3 tuners connected to the back of the headstock for added resonance transfer. TonePros enhances this tradition with a solid baseplate for each row of 3 tuners.

Completely sealed, these tuning machines feature all titanium internal components and a 16:1 gear ratio. 12/64" shaft size. Retrofit your vintage guitar with no modification.

Very Nice, Slight Modification Required

By Jim

from Colorado Springs, CO

I have a 1950 Gibson J-45 with original tuners and I tried to get as close to those as possible. I got them in and they looked perfect, however I ran into an issue when I tried to put them on my headstock. The holes (screws and pegs) are identical, but there is about a 1/4" lip on the rail around the pegs that require a slight widening of the holes on the rear of the headstock to allow the rail to seat flush on the headstock. I carefully drilled out the holes just a bit and they fit and work perfectly. This mod is completely invisible due to the rail, but you should know it must be done to mount tuners this model guitar. I was able to leave the brads in place on the face of the headstock as it is all a perfect fit with the slight mod. The new tuners have made this old favorite guitar a reliable instrument once again!

I had Tom at Local Music in Salt Lake ream the holes a bit but well worth it! They tune up nice and smooth. 59' Gibson LG zero sounds great!
