  • Great Tuning Machines

    Tuning machines may not be the most glamorous of upgrades, but nothing sucks worse than a guitar that won't stay in tune. If you need to upgrade a guitar with the old school Gibson Deluxe "Green Keys" style tuning machines and don't want to alter the appearance, these are the way to go. I installed them on a 2007 SG Special that wouldn't stay in tune for love nor money, and it was a 100% drop-in installation, no modifications necessary. The new Tonepros Kluson machines are a vast improvement over the old stock tuners. Better mass and weight, much nicer, more resistive feel, way better gear ratio, and best of all, rock solid tuning stability. My SG that wouldn't stay in tune through one song stays in tune for days now. Minor criticisms: 1) The tuner buttons are pre-aged to a butterscotch color instead of the traditional mint green Gibson color, so who knows what color it will turn in twenty years or so. 2) They are a bit pricey, but, hey, you gotta be in tune.
