Overview

The KickPort's design enhances the sound of your kick drum by porting the kick drum in the same manner as a bass reflex speaker cabinet, which boosts low frequencies. It adds ideal dampening directly to the resonant head, which allows you to remove most”if not all”of the internal materials, thus reclaiming all of the natural resonance and tone of your drum. The KickPort bass drum enhancement also focuses the air as it exits the kick drum, creating a natural compression that increases punch.

As if that wasn't enough, it's tunable! Due to its broadband design, the KickPort bass drum enhancement improves the sound of bass drums sized 16" to 28." It can be tuned up or down by adjusting the tuning of the resonant head.

All of these benefits add up to more lows, more tone, better definition, and more punch in varying acoustical environments. Make no mistake, it's not just for the audience or the sound engineer”these are benefits the drummer can feel behind the drum set as well.

Features
  • Fits kick drums sized 16"-28"
  • 4" diameter opening

I've had it for a few days now, and it is great! Easy to install (5 min), and does what it says. I noticed an amazing feel, and my bass drum sounded much more full.....It was a boom!, instead of a quick bam. Plus, the boom didn't sound very muddy and had good clean tone. looks awesome too, i defiantly recommend it!!! Buy it now! obese

I installed a Kickport on my 18" Tama bass drum (e-mad batter & resonant heads). There's a noticeable boost in volume, punch and resonance. I really like my Tama jazz kit(18" bd, 10" x 10" & 14" x 14", with a vintage Leedy snare)for a variety of gigs, from jazz to country to casuals and musical theater. But an 18" bass drum just does not punch enough; the Kickport makes a difference, but it will never sound like a 22". Still, I'm satisfied.

A good investment

By Khalil Saadiq

Comments about Kickport Bass Drum Sonic Enhancement Port:

after reading some of the reviews and pondering the thought of having to cut into my Aquarian resonant head which already had a 5in port hole...i took the chance on seeing if this kickport could give me much more punch and low end. I bought it and i got to tell you...my kick sounds even more awesome. after adjusting the resonant head to get the sound i wanted...i wss very happy. The compliments from other musicians and singers were well recieved. some thought i had pillows or a blanket inside my kick, and showed them from my batter side that my kick was empty. thats right fellas nothing inside the kick, the way it should be. so if you wondering if you should get one, just go for it.

So Much Punch

By Jacob Johnson

from Fairfax, Virginia

Comments about Kickport Bass Drum Sonic Enhancement Port:

So i bought this today and its made my bass drum sound so amazing, it does exactly what it said it was going to do. and you can even tell the difference from behind the kit. It took like 3 minutes to install. including cutting a new sound hole in the drum. It came with a template which made it so easy to do. i highly recommend if your thinking about getting one, quit thinking and just do it you wont be disappointed

BUY IT IN STORE!!

By Nate Wikle

Comments about Kickport Bass Drum Sonic Enhancement Port:

I know this things works great, I have used them on all my drum sets and of course purchased one for my new kit right away; HOWEVER, they are NOT in stock. The web site says they are in stock not only online but also in guitar centers all over the place but they are not. Kickport stopped production on them to re-look at the construction, since they had a tendency to break if you took them in and out constantly which no one ever does. The new one is already made but they are filling back-orders like crazy so my advice would be to go to a local store (not a guitar center - they wont have it) and make sure its in your hands before you fork up the cash. GREAT product but wish I would've drove to the store to get it!

Well thought-out and extremely useful

By George Noriega

from New York, NY

Comments about Kickport Bass Drum Sonic Enhancement Port:

I recently purchased the Kickport because I didn't feel like I had a full enough sound from my bass drums. The heads that I use on my bass drum (22 X 18) are an Evans EMAD Onyx for the batter side (with the muffling ring), Evans EQ3 for the resonant head (with a porthole), as well as a Gibraltar click pad on the batter-sides and wooden beaters. Before I got the Kickport I muffled the drums with pillows inside. As a result, I got that really dry, clicky Vinnie Paul sound, which was what I was looking for, but felt that the bass drums were getting lost in the overall sound and mix when I played. Unfortunately, if I removed the pillows, the sound (even with the porthole) was way too boomy for my taste. I figured I would give the Kickport a shot, since I had heard and read good things about it. Bingo; that did the trick. The Kickport basically acts as a bass reflex vent similar to what you would find in a subwoofer. As a result, air is focused out of the drum through the port, which in theory is supposed to tighten the sound of the bass drum and free you from having to muffle it with pillows, blankets, etc. And indeed it does. Not only does it eliminate the resonance from an unmuffled drum, it actually(in my case anyway) allows the "thwap" from the click pad to cut through the mix, while still providing a nice bottom end. The bass drum actually has bass, but it is tight, not that boomy, muddy bass that overpowers the rest of the kit. Additionally, the batter head is slightly looser (since there's nothing artificially muffling it anymore) which I've found helps the rebound of the beater off the head. All around I am very impressed with the Kickport and can't imagine playing without it; when I first used it my guitarist commented about how different and better the bass drum(s) sounded. I would be remiss if I didn't point out one thing, though: (1) even though the instructions say that you can slip it onto a porthole between 5 and 5? inches, it is near impossible to do it on a 5 inch porthole. I was so worried that the porthole was gong to tear (even though it was reinforced) that I wound up removing the head, separating the rubber collar from the Kickport, sliding the KP through the front and then sliding the rubber collar back onto it. It took all of 5 minutes to do, so it was no big deal, just be aware of that.

Comments about Kickport Bass Drum Sonic Enhancement Port:

Just installed this item on my recording kit and love it. I was a bit shy of the installation process but it turned out to be no problem. The low end is great and the punch is to die for. Highly recommended.....Should be standard equipment for all kick drums just like the kick pedal....

revive your bass drum with its true sound!!

By Jordan Flarity

from Bunker Hill, IL

Comments about Kickport Bass Drum Sonic Enhancement Port:

This thing is awesome! Its puts more boom to your bass drum, and you can take out most of your dampening from inside. Just remember to play around with tuning the resonant head instead of your batter side if it doesnt sound right!!
