Overview

The Keeley Compressor pedal is built using tone-tested components and true bypass switching for a clean, unaffected sound when the pedal is off. Metal film resistors and capacitors ensure the cleanest compressor on the market. Hand-matched transistors to less than 1% tolerance ensures you get a perfectly compressed signal, no chance for unwanted distortions.

The Keeley Compressor is the new standard for guitar compression. It won the Editor's Pick Award from Guitar Player Magazine and, most recently, the Reader's Choice Award for the stompbox category. It features an internal attack control to make it suitable for high-output active basses. It also features an input sensitivity control which allows it to be used in the studio for keyboards, drum machines, for mastering, and other line-level uses.

Low current draw, just 5mA. Uses a standard 9V DC battery and has an AC adapter connection.

Features
  • Its transistors are matched for gain (Hfe) within 1%

What's Up With Keeley?

By Daniel Dockery

from Fort Collins, CO

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

Little History First. I own several Keeley pedals. I have two of these compressors on two different pedal boards I use. The oldest is about 8 years old and newer one is about 5 years old. I have a DD3 Keeley modded for me that is about 6 years old and I have a Java Boost that is about 4 years old. My stuff has been through hell and back numerous times and up to now the only pedals that have survived without repair or replacement have been the Keeleys and one of my Fulltone Fulldrives. I have pulled my compressors numerous times for various uses in the studio because they gave me the tone I was after, even on vocals. I ordered a new compressor from GC several weeks ago because I have a stereo amp setup I am dialing in and wanted another Keeley compressor with internal pots and so I don't have to pull my older one of my live pedal board. Compressor was basically DOA. Had to crank up both knobs to get a faint distorted sound and it didn't matter is it was powered by the battery or the power supply. Bit shocked, but okay sent it back and GC sends another. It works!!! But wait, after the unit has been on about 5 minutes it develops this high pitched frequency that is even more enhanced as you turn up the Sustain knob. Again, does it with either battery or power supply. Keep in mind my two older versions work fine under the same set-up. Has something has changed over at Keeley? I may try and order direct from Keeley, although in an email Robert Keeley swore that the pedals made for GC are the same quality. Looks like maybe another great builder has fallen pray to the all mighty dollar trying to market their wares to the big box stores.

Great Compressor

By Steven

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

Would I trade my studio compressors for this? No, That's ridiculous. However, this compressor is fantastic in line on my pedal board. Really great at doing it's job and it "is" transparent unless you don't want it to be. I put My Distortion pedal in front of it. My OD - Delay and Chorus after it (in that order). If you're thinking about buying a comp for your pedal board, I would recommend this this Keeley pedal. 5+ stars.

Top Choice Compressor

By Bob

from Mendham, NJ

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

This compressor is outstanding, and delivers what's expected. It makes my whole setup sound more professional, and adds the bit of sustain I need on leads. I would reommend this to anyone looking for a stage performance compressor. Only problem I have is there is quite a bit of hum, but not sure it's all coming from the compressor. I use all mogami and monster TRS cables of high quality to reduce hum. I will need to buy a hum eliminator now, but all in all, this is a fantastic compressor. I think compressors in general all hum. No question it is worth the money.

Best on the market!

By Mike

from Edmond, Oklahoma

Comments about Keeley Compressor Guitar Effect Pedal:

The Keeley Compressor is by far the best compressor on the market today. I've used T-REX, MXR, Barber, Emma, Maxon, BOSS, and various studio compressors and the Keeley beats them all. This is by far the most transparent compressor available today. Whether tube or solid state, this pedal will not colour your tone. If you are looking for a way to improve your tone, this is the best place to start. This pedal also works great in the studio. And for a little more control, try the 4-knob version. I've owned this pedal for almost a year now and I don't have a single complaint. The Keeley Compressor is definately worth the price. You won't be disappointed.
