The Java Boost guitar pedal from Keeley Electronics brings back the same incredible response and sound quality of the heralded late '60s treble boosters, and with more control over the output frequencies range and boost gain. Handcrafted with the finest components, including the NOS Mullard OC44 transistors used in the '60s original. Especially killer in front of a tube amp. Cream colored knobs and violet LEDs.
That's what these pedals do and they do it THE BEST! The voicing and treble cut control (tone) are great features as well. I don't find the full boost too useful, it is too dark and muddy for most amps/cabinets but the mid boost is the JAM for single coils - really brings that extra cohones for solos or heavy riffs. The original treble boost is pretty useful for both singles and humbuckers - it cuts through! The tone is spectacular with a tube amp although it has to be on the verge of breaking up or already overdriven. The pedal then kicks it up a notch and drives the tubes hard and adds a little of it's own grit - yet it doesn't take away the tubyness of your amp. I use this and my volume control/pup selector and can get a range of tones out of one amp setting - really great for guys like me who aren't toe tappers and rely on the amp/guitar/cabinets tone. Only a couple flaws but nothing that wouldn't stop me from buying another is that it is fairly noisy (you don't want to leave it on with you are not playing) and the knobs seem to drift a bit after a few stomps - the pots aren't super tight.
This is an outstanding pedal. This is "THE" pedal for my setup and style. This pedal is made to be pushed and played loud and it does not sound great until you get your amp above 3 or 4. Above that and this thing comes to life. Very awesome voicing. It just has a way to cut though. I have played for over 20 years and this is my favorite. I have many vintage originals but this is the one for me. I stick mainly to rock. I usually always have this pedal on and just adjust my volume on my guitar. Goes from an acceptible clean to a very dingy dirty Class A type boost. This is a very reactive pedal to your playing style. You need to buy this one.. I understand they are not going to be around forever. I actually bought a spare because this is one I would not be able to do without.
