KRK has redesigned its wildly popular Rokit series of studio monitors, providing a broader frequency response, a new cabinet design, an adjustment in power for better balance, and several other enhancements. All three models feature a front-firing port that provides low frequency extension without boundary coupling, an improved speaker voicing for even more accurate frequency response, a 1" silk dome tweeter, and an Aramid glass composite woofer. They are lightweight, low profile and are offered at a price that makes professional-level monitoring affordable for even the most humble studios.
Other monitors have ports on the back of the cabinet. These rear-firing ports tend to create bass coupling with walls and corners amplifying low frequency information which will color your mix. The KRK Generation 3 Rokit studio monitor's design includes front-firing ports, which are just the right shape and taper to reduce port turbulence. You'll appreciate the clean and accurate bass performance this approach delivers, even at high SPL's.
A great-sounding monitor doesn't stop with a great cabinet and custom drivers. KRKs true bi-amplified amplifier system provides discrete low-distortion power for each driver. While the active crossover systems provide smooth and accurate frequency response, and again, accurate diffraction control.

I ordered these vintage Gold powered monitors because they were on sale. I knew by reviews that I read about them that they would be a great purchase and they were. I'm so happy I caught these on sale and am very pleased with the sound. They are banging! They go very, very loud and you can hear everything you need to hear when monitoring something you are producing. They are best for that... or just to listen to music :)
Great speakers that are definitely worth the price I paid for them ($99/apiece Labor Day Weekend). Lows and mids are clean, but I prefer to still have my additional speakers placed on top to really bring out the highs for a full stereo sound. No complaints from me and you can never go wrong with KRK's.
Got a pair for my pro audio voodoo Ham Radio set up & these speakers are amazing , the receiving audio coming from my ICOM IC-7700 into these is unreal, needless to say the transmit monitor is cleaner than anything I've ever heard, and trust me , I've seen some fantastic transmit stations.
The KRK Rokit Powered 5" Generation 3 Monitors are some of the best monitors I have ever purchased. Now of course they are not the best studio monitors, but for all others within the same price range I rank them #1 overall. They are really great when it comes to making Hip Pop music. They have excellent mids and highs. Their lows are also pretty good aswell, but I when your use to using higher end monitors like me you can hear the difference. I am not saying the these are cheap in any way or fashion, but I am not to fond of using them. If this is your first time building a studio in home or anywhere else these are a great buy. Considering they are used by most music studios they are pretty much industry standard, so you are getting one of the best speakers at a great price and no better place to buy then GUITAR CENTER.
...By selling these at the prices they charged me. I got 2 of these just today, and now ALL my music sounds better. Great for home recording or better listening (records I've heard dozens of times are now clean, crisp, and round.) Get these (at these prices) while you can! I really don't care about the finish, it's not that bad (we're musicians- who cares anyway??).
I picked these up at my local GC for only $105 each! The price, the color, and the fact that they where limited edition pulled me into a buy, not to mention the reputation that KRK has established! They sound amazing in my home studio! Great purchase!
These monitors are great. I got them for 100 each for the cyber monday sale. The bass comes a little heavy, which is difficult for production, but there are LP/HP knobs on the backside to lower the bass. Overall, these speakers are great. I would recommend them to any DJ/EDM Producer whos in need of studio monitors.
