KrK has made my mixes very happy, and my ears easily make it through hours of mixing. I use the RP10 sub when mixing bass heavy material and for WOW factor but it's not a necessary component. I spent much time listening and road testing monitors and kept comparing everything to the VXTs and nothing came close. Get yourself a pair you will not be disappointed.
So I upgraded from the Rokit powered 6 monitor and man i cant believe how much more detailed the highs and mids are for the price. I was leaning towards the JBLs but i felt that they were colored, and hs80m's just seem a little to harsh for my ears and bassy at high volumes. So i decided to stick with a 6 inch monitor and stick with my krk line and the vxt's are very responsive at this price range. I wanted the 8's but i already have the 10s sub. Ive been doing music since 2001 and ive heard my share of monitors in this price range and by far this blows away a lot of the competition in this range.
I can't believe that these sound this good for such a low price! I've heard these next to Genelecs, Dynaudio and Adams that cost 2-4 times as much. These are clearer, have a smooth bottom end, excellent highs. The build quality is also top notch. I switch to these, replacing my Mackie 824s. These are much more detailed and accurate. My other monitors sounded muddy in comparison.
