Read every review on these if you want. You will read the same negative rhetoric about bass. These are not headphones for the average consumer who wants music dressed up and sugarcoated. If that is what your looking for head to Best Buy and grab some Beats by Dre. These headphones are for serious engineers, producers, dj's, and re-mixers who need and honest genuine pair of headphones in an environment that do not allow the use of studio monitors. I spent eight hours "Burning them in." I mixed down a few Rap tracks and a couple of Pop, and Techno. Played them back in the car, lo-fi monitors, and through my Android phone. Im a producer and dj.I have been a producer for almost 15 years.Working with electronic and hiphop music.These headphones are a also alternative to studio monitors because they are just that for your ears.I cant really produce where i live now for various reasons especially not having a proper sound proofed room.These are the best investment i have made.But be cautioned they need time to burn in.When u first buy them there gonna seem to sound like cheap headphones.But after about 12 hours of consistent play they sound AWESOME.I played TCM'S high roller through them while i slept for about 8 hours and then ran a frequency sweep from 20 to 3000 for about 4 hours and now they are perfect.These headphones are really top notch and i would recommend them to anyone as a studio monitor alternative.
I went to GC looking to get some beyerdynamic headphones because I've seen them used by some talented producers and they have a really professional look. I tried out the KRK's and A/B 'd them with the beyerdynamics and noticed that they sounded truer (not yet broken in) and would help me produce better. The beyerdynamic cans had great bass that gave me goosebumps, but the KRK's sounded like I was there producing the tracks that were playing. Also, the KRK's had a larger stereo spread and I could hear and "see" each instrument and where in the mix it sat, while the beyerdynamic cans sort of mushed the sounds into each other. Superb headphones if you're serious about producing.
