Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

Okay, first off I am a rhythm guitarist and a geezer to boot, so acoustic drums and drum machines were always a problem for me. Not with this little baby! The pads are sensitive enough to play using fingers which means if you can work out the beat using your thumbs and fingers you can add drums to your home demos. It is easy to use and the controls are fairly intuitive. An all around good investment.

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

I just added this to my Roland TD-1K drums, and I have it going through a KAT 50w drum monitor. A quick and affordable way to add lots of voices to your kit, it is very easy to set up and get playing. Sounds are high quality; I have mine set to a tambourine, cowbell, clave, and conga, and changes can be made quickly for different music styles. The pads are slightly harder than my Roland drum pads, but they still feel realistic and not cheap. If you need to add some percs to an acoustic or electronic kit, get it!

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

I bought the KAT hi-hat pedal and KAT percussion controller to accompany my solo act. It's perfect. Sounds exactly like a hi-hat, and it has a natural feel.

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

Used to get some kick and hi-hat sounds for solo guitar accompaniment without the bulk and volume of a kick and hi-hat.

Takes awhile to get settings in a workable state but the sounds are okay once you get it set up.

The hi-hat (using the Kat Hi-Hat Pedal) is disappointing though. You can only assign two different hi-hat sounds to the pedal, neither of which is very realistic for an open-close-open type of action.

For those considering trying the Yamaha silent-kick pedal with this unit, it takes some modification to get a decent response (Yamaha has a resistor divider internal to the pedal that cuts its output in half, even with the sensitivity maxed out on the Kat, you really needed to hit it hard).

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

I was quite surprised with the sound quality this unit has. You can tailor each of the four pads and adjust levels of reverb, sensitivity, stereo left and right, tuning, and volume. The samples are well done. It took a few minutes to catch on to learn the features, and is quite intuitive to use. It comes with a mount to enable you to use a snare stand. It is quite portable and will replace my hand drums and percussives in live situations where we plugin. You can use the stereo out in a stereo sound system, or run one mono channel to a powered monitor and the other into the sound system. It is well thought out and very versatile.

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

Good sounding unit, easy to play. Interface requires a little learning curve to call up sounds, but not bad. Very light weight means having to use a sturdy stand, and the mount is a little odd. 'Wound up using a light stand that fit pretty well. Remarkable technology for the price.

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

3.5 stars. For $100 this is a cool toy. I was wondering if it could replace my Roland Handsonic 10 on some gigs...instead of upgrading to the Roland Handsonic 20 which is ~$800. maaaayyybe, with some work, but probably not...This KAT's internal sounds are very low quality in comparison to Roland's...the method for creating kits is easy to understand from the manual, but not intuitive (give me a selection of cool kits ready to go like roland). USB Triggering works really well in Ableton Live from the KAT - as long as you're cool with only 4 pads. The sensitivity for playing with hands/fingers is ok, but not great. I LOVE the light weight, and the included plastic stand attachment saves some $. Cool that it takes kick and hihat inputs. It could be a tiny drum kit for sure. If you need to go on the cheap, and have a computer set-up, its cool. Definitely no Handsonic. If I can get some really good samples loaded into Ableton, maybe it can work in a pinch on some gigs.

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

It does what the company says it will do, and, believe it or not, it is easy to set up and operate. I'm just using to record some basic ideas so the actual drummer gets the idea and does much better.

                  Kat on a Budget

Comments about KAT Percussion Electronic Drum and Percussion Pad Sound Module:

I am a big fan of Kat products, I have owned a Drum Kat for years, It is made of heavy gage steel and the Pads are solid and Very playable and it has so many features that you could probably never use them all, So when I heard of the Multi Pad with on board sounds for $119.00 I had to try it, On the Minus side its made of plastic and no where near as rugged as a Drum Kat or Mallet Kat, when using sticks, it feels hollow, not very solid and had me searching my stick bag for my lightest sticks, also on the minus side, there is no MIDI IN so it is kind of useless for sequencing, On the Plus side, The Multi Pad is Very easy to use and playing it with my hands worked well for me, with a nice assortment of drum and percussion sounds that are tunable and can be panned it will be quite useful to me in adding percussion to my tracks, it also has a USB port for direct connect to your computer, So, with all that said, I think for $119.00 you can't go wrong, it is not the End All percussion controller Sound module but I sure am having a lot of fun with mine.
