This model was originally designed by José Ramírez III in the 1960's. Since then the Ramirez 1a has been the standard by which Spanish guitars are compared. It is a premier instrument of top quality in workmanship and materials. Today the Ramirez workshop is under the supervision of his granddaughter Amalia Ramirez, who has re-adopted this revered model with its deep, potent sound that is rich in harmonics.
The Traditional 1a has a premium red cedar top and beautiful bookmatched Indian rosewood back and sides.The cedar neck is topped with an ebony fretboard and a bone nut, and has a strip of ebony for structural reinforcement. The traditional slotted headstock is faced with Indian rosewood and is fitted with engraved exposed gear gold tuners with ivoroid buttons. The rosette is a mosaic of red roses entwined by green stems. The rosewood bridge features a bone saddle and a bone bordered harness for securing the string ends.
